Hilde's Corner - Fall is here!

Fall is here!
Fall is here!!
The very best time of the year!

I love it. I am trying so hard to stay with my current knit projects, but it’s so hard now with the cooler weather and seeing new patterns crop up that I feel I just have to knit NOW!

Like these fingerless mitts. I dropped everything to knit these, I like them so much. I just love their fall motif. I just hope I can finish them before fall is over. They’re called Oak Hollow by Dianna Walla and they go for $5 on Ravelry. I am using Queensland Collection United to make them. I love the choice of colors this yarn has to offer. Marvel by Yarnalia would be another fun choice.

With Halloween fast approaching, have you seen these cute little witch hats? They would make cute little decor on a book shelf or something. The pattern is called Ensorcellment by Hunter Hammersen and sells for $10 on Ravelry. It is written for any gauge yarn, so that makes it much easier for yarn choices. Find a color you like, and go with it!

I think I need a banner filled with these fall charms to hang in my home during fall. I think it’s adorable. Fall Harvest Charm Set by Susan B. Anderson is $6 on Ravelry. It uses fingering-weight yarn, and I’m sure I have lots of scraps of fingering laying around my house. Otherwise, I would use Cascade Heritage as there are lots of colors to choose from. Ewe Ewe Fluffy Fingering would work, too.

I wish everyone out there a fantastic fall season. May the weather be perfect to wear our handmade yarn clothing!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
