Shine Through

Shine Through by Cally Monster is a fun sail-shaped shawl knit in two colors. For our shop sample we used 1 skein of Dandelions & Daisies in the 'Vintage Bouquet' colorway (we will have a restock of her yarn soon!!!) and two balls of Penna in the Mullberry colorway .  The lightness of Penna makes the shawl feather light, but still soft and cozy. There is no stranded colorwork in this shawl, just slipped stitches and you carry the yarns up the edge so there are VERY few ends to weave in when you are finished knitting (MY FAVORITE!!!!!!) The pattern is well written and fun to knit! When we receive the next shipment of Dandelions & Daisies, we will assemble some kits as well! Stay tuned!

Introducing Jadawoo Designs

A little backstory before I talk about our newest yarn to hit the shelves.... Last month I participated in a test knit for local designer, Jaime Lomax ( aka PNW Knit Design ) and all of the testers were included in a group chat.  It was fun to watch the color combinations and get to know some of the other testers. Around the same time, a customer stopped into the shop and BOTH of us had NO CLUE we were in the same group chat. It wasn't until after she left, that I put two and two together while scrolling through Instagram!!! Of course then I had to stalk her insta (as one does) and discovered she dyes GORGEOUS yarn AND is a local gal!!!!!!  I fell in love with her PNW inspired colorways, as well as this dandelion-inspired yarn. I'm going through a big gold/rust phase right now and this one spoke to my heart!! I was curious about her business name and inquired about the inspiration behind "Jadawoo Designs".  "Ah! That is my alter ego! Sometimes fear prevents us fr

Fixing mistakes

I don't think there is a day that goes by that I don't hear "I would knit more, but I don't know how to fix my mistakes". Below you will find a link for a great tutorial on how to fix your mistakes in stockinette. I highly recommend knitting a small swatch, then drop stitches on purpose (I promise, it will be fun!!!!) and see if you can fix them. If you can't fix them, no sweat...it's a swatch and you have permission to throw it away!!! The more you get comfortable with stockinette, graduate to garter stitch and see how you do! When you play this way, you start to really understand how stitches are constructed....and THAT is the key to fixing your mistakes!!! Enjoy! Scrunchies for a Cause

During the months of April & May, we are featuring a local teacher who is making scrunchies to raise funds to purchase books for her classroom!  These are super soft and don't give me a headache like other hair rubberbands! I love using them to put my hair up when I sleep! Read more about this awesome local teacher and her mission to provide books for her students! My name is Karen Belleque and I teach 2nd grade at a local elementary school. My class is made of 20 hardworking low-income students who represent eight different cultures. They are trying their best to learn every day and overcome their adversities. One area that has been hit hard by the pandemic is their social-emotional wellbeing. A way to reach these students is through books based on social-emotional topics. Unfortunately, my classroom library does not have many and we are not allowed to use our school library right now. During the months of April and May, I will be selling handmade velvet scrunchies to he
