Free pattern alert

Friend of the shop, Becky, has just released a new wall hanging pattern that is designed to store your circular needles. It only uses one skein of DK weight yarn and it's FREE through March 30th with this link: [ https://www.ravelry.com/redeem/bellaricka ] The code is NewMemories

Kolorblock

Sometimes a pattern just smacks me upside the head and says...YOU MUST MAKE ME!!!! That's what happened when I stumbled upon this pattern by  Justyna Lorkowska  (if that name looks familiar, she is the designer of ' Close to you' which might be the MOST popular knit pattern in the shop!!! It is SOOOOO popular and the perfect use for one skein of fingering weight yarn!) Ok....back to the pattern that smacked me upside the head....it is called Kolorblok and I adore EVERYTHING about the pattern. The shape, the use of colorblocking, the colors she used!!!! I immediately sent it to Maribel with alllllll the heart eyes!! If you have mini skeins laying around and not sure how to use them up....this would be a great pattern! And check out all the beautiful shawls that have been knit up already! There are almost 100 projects listed here  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kolorblok/people You can find the $7 pattern at  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kolorblok

Spring Break Series April 2024

It's no secret that I LOVE teaching people how to knit/crochet/craft...but I especially LOVE teaching young people how to do it! I have found that kids take to crafts in a totally different way than adults do! Adults are a little more timid and careful to not make a mistake...kids run at whatever craft it is at FULL FORCE and throw complete caution to the wind. It's usually a little crazy...and I LOVE it!!! During the week of April 9th to 12th we will offer a different class each day at 2pm (it happens to be Auburn School District's SPRING BREAK!!!). Take one, or take them all!  Loom Pot Holders - $40 - 2 Hours - Instructor: Jen Reeves Tuesday, April 9th 2pm to 4pm Making pot holders with these looms has been popular for decades…time to get the younger generations hooked too! In this class we will learn how to make pot holders with loops. The kids will get to play with colors, learn to weave them in and out and how to finish.  Class includes: Loom set with enough loops to m

Kris' & Hilde's Corner - Happy 1st Day of Spring

We don't have a schedule or topic list for Hilde or Kris' Corners...we like to keep it organic. This week both submitted articles on the SAME topic...so I just had to make it a Kris & Hilde corner...enjoy!!! Kris' part of the corner... It’s The First Day of Spring! My daffodils are blooming and birds are singing their hearts out and the sun has been shining consistently for how many straight days now!?!….Hello Spring! I don’t know about you but I’m ready for some sunshine. I’m not a naïve Washingtonian, I know we have more rainy blustery days ahead but the sunshine has lifted my spirits and my knitting dreams so here’s what’s on my needles. When Capella Luna had their trunk show I was immediately drawn to the tweed sock yarn. My son has been asking for some socks so I showed him the colors and he quickly chose Tweedy Sock “Ferry”, a beautiful green. We picked out a cable sock that he liked and I’ve been working away.   The pattern is, “ Men’s Cable Socks” by KittyKi

Hilde's Corner

Easter holiday is soon upon us! Need some cute Easter basket additions?  How about these super cute carrot pouches - Little Carrot Pouch by Clickety Sticks . This knitting pattern is free, and uses Worsted weight yarn. A great way to use up any leftovers one might have! Otherwise Uptown Worsted would be a really great choice for these fun treat bags. And this is adorable - they transform! Easter Egg Flips Bunny & Chick by Ling Ryan go from an Easter egg to a bunny or chick in seconds. The pattern is crochet and sells for about $4.69 on Ravelry. It uses DK weight yarn and I think Ricorumi DK would be excellent for this.  Or how about a crocheted Easter egg that you can fill with something fun? Easter Egg Surprise by Caitie Moore is a free pattern, also using DK weight. Again, Ricorumi DK would work great for this. The designer says her pattern for Itty Bitty Kitty ( also free!) fits perfectly inside the Easter Egg. Super cute! And I can’t help but suggest these silly, little

Knit at the Opera?

On Friday, May 17 we are having a Relaxed Performance of our production of  The Barber of Seville . While there will be no changes to the performance, the experience for the audience will have some alterations including:   Lights being dimmed in the theater instead of fully dark A relaxed atmosphere allowing patrons to talk and vocalize as they wish Being able to leave and re-enter the theater as needed Special areas designated as a technology use area   …and much more.   These adaptations are designed for a multitude of people and as a knitter myself, I couldn't help but think this would be great for groups of fiber artists to attend and craft throughout the show! While I can knit a basic pair of socks during a performance, having the lights up alone will make it easier to find any dropped stitches or check a pattern.   Any crafters who are interested can use  code KNITTER20 and will receive 20% off tickets for the Friday, May 17 7:30 PM performance . Tickets can be purchased at

Dreaming of Summer Tees

I love knitting summer tops (and have been known to wear them year-round) and lately I have been obsessing about making more!! I put together a bundle on Ravelry where you can see all the patterns I have been drooling over.  The Salty Air Tee has been haunting me for awhile now. It's totally my style and I think it would be amazing in a linen blend I have been thinking about bringing into the shop. I just need more hands to knit up all the things I want to be working on! Stormy Skies Top really calls to me! I'm not sure yet what yarn I'll use, but it MUST be crochet up pronto!! You can check out all of the summer tops in this Ravelry Bundle . Please note, I have not knit/crochet every single one of these, but many are by designers that I have knit and trust. Other projects are just pretty and call to me! Some may be free, while others may have a fee. You may need to be logged into Ravelry to view this bundle.
