The yuckie side of AI

For quite some time I have been seeing stories on the internet about a crochet pattern that is completely AI (meaning that pattern will NEVER make anything near what the photo looks like), but recently, I'm hearing more horror stories in the shop!! AI can be a great tool in some industries, but when it comes to creative I just can't get on board. Designing a knitting pattern is more than just using abbreviated terms. There is so much testing and pivoting and making sure everything lays just right. It's about trying different ways to get texture and figuring out which way will be easiest for the end user. Hundreds of hours are poured into patterns that you enjoy...and it just can't be replicated with AI.  I have chatted with a few customers who are teaching themselves how to knit and looking up terms through AI. I would just like to put my two cents, that sometimes the AI returns just aren't correct or they are close to correct but not quite there. I would highly rec...

Kris' Corner - Spring is in the air

Spring Is In The Air! All I need is a few sunny days in a row and my whole mood changes.  The flowers are popping open and people are starting to mow their lawns again.  My husband and I are trying to clean out all the winter yuck in our yard to show off the sweet flowers starting to poke their heads out of the ground.  I know that this sunny stretch is probably a tease and we have more storms ahead before summer, but I will take it. Here are a few spring pattern ideas to prolong the sunny spring mood.  Notice how all of the pattern names begin with the word “Spring”! Look at these amazing socks!  The blue sky, white clouds and bright flowers among the green grass and mountains is so cute.  The pattern is called “ Spring(The Valley Comes Alive) by Oakwood Knits .  It is $6 on Ravelry but all 4 season patterns are available for $15. The socks are knit from cuff down.  Although the sock is mainly 2-color stranded colorwork, there are a couple of are...

Japan Trip

My family and I just returned from our incredible trip to Japan. I wanted to share our trip with you, but moreso I wanted to have someplace I can come back to and revisit our trip...so this is more of a scrapbook of sorts that I hope you enjoy as well!! This trip was 12 years in the making...and was even better than we could have imagined!  Travel day (because it doesn't really count as Day 1...but is part of the vacay) When we checked in for our flight we couldn't get all of our seats together, so I had to sit alone....darn! ;) I knit a ton and watched 4 movies!! I love a long-haul flight, but my kids were not fans! ;)  The process to get through immigration wasn't bad, I think from when the plane touched down until we got bags and through immigration was maybe 25 minutes and included clearing up a typo from when I entered passport information ...whoops!! I crochet this little red octopus to travel with us, you will see him pop-up in photos from time to time. We got a van ...
