Fiberside Chats

A couple weeks ago I participated in my first Fiberside Chat. I had noticed them being advertised for awhile now...but I finally dove in! It was so fun to listen to Stephen West share about his upcoming Westknits MKAL and see his past MKALS.

I immediately emailed Longmont Yarn Shoppe and inquired how I could be part of such a cool and educational offering. We were accepted as an affiliate and I'm excited to share all the future Fiberside Chats with you!!!

Here is a little more information directly from the people who have created this program!

Join Live Online Chats with Some of Fiber's Most Exciting Creators

We’ve invited some of your favorite designers and creators to join us for a series of online gatherings with Longmont Yarn Shoppe & our group of 36 collaborating Yarn Shops across North America. We call these: Fiberside Chats!

Launched in May 2020, Chats are one-hour Zoom sessions with special guests joining us to give a peek into their world. These designers & creators will discuss their unique path, creative processes, favorite techniques, latest projects, or whatever is inspiring them now. There will be opportunity for Q&A & other fun surprises like giveaways & pattern discounts for those who join!
Fees & Registration Your seat at Fiberside Chats is just $20. This fee supports the guest speaker & the LYS you sign up under. At the registration page you can choose to purchase your ticket from any of the shops listed. If you’re not affiliated with any of the shops you can choose the founder & host shop, Longmont Yarn Shoppe.

Have a conflict in your schedule? Don't worry we've got you covered. Many of our guests are allowing Zoom recordings of their Chat. Whether the Chat will be recorded or not will be clearly stated for each event. Recordings will be available for 1 week after the chat, only to registered attendees.

I'm excited for the upcoming chats as well...if you would like to join in the fun, go to the Fiberchats page and register. Each session is $20 and a portion of the sales goes to A Little Knitty (be sure to pick us from the drop down list!!)

Upcoming guests include....

The Joy of Yarn with Marie Greene

There’s often a big difference between the yarn we buy and the yarn we use – and some of us have an unruly stash to show for it. Raise your hand if:

  • You’ve ever felt exasperated and uninspired by your yarn stash (same!)
  • You don’t believe in yarn diets (ew, right?)
  • You have tons of yarn already, but none of it is the right yarn for your project (been there)
  • You’ve tried a zillion ways to get your yarn (and crafts!) organized, but nothing seems to work (the struggle is real)

Good news, you’re not alone! Join our special guest, best-selling author and designer, Marie Greene from Olive Knits, as she shares game-changing secrets from her newest book, The Joy of Yarn. She’ll share tips for mindfully investing in your “fiber real estate” and transforming a messy, overwhelming stash, into a lovingly curated “home” yarn shop that will inspire you. Say goodbye to yarn diets and say hello to The Joy of Yarn!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
