Dropped Yarn Over?

This topic has come up a few times lately...so I wanted to share!!

Kris' Corner - Small Can Be Good

I don’t know about you, but all of a sudden I’m hearing about a lot of ladies expecting babies. We are also having quite a few customers come into the shop inquiring about baby patterns and yarns. Three of my closest friends are going to be grandmas in the next 6 months! With all these babies on the way what are some sweet knitting projects to give as gifts? Time and cost are on my mind yet I want them to be special. The nice thing about making baby clothes and blankets is that they are small so the projects come together quickly and the quantity of yarn needed can be minimal. You might even have something in your stash that you can use. Jen already has some great ideas at A Little Knitty including the “ Sail Away Blanket ”, which I have made several times, and a cute little shawl collar baby cardigan, “ Oscar “, that is truly adorable (and it comes in lots of sizes!).  In my search I found this cute free baby sweater on Ravelry called, “ Fuss Free Baby Cardigan ” by Louise Tilbrook De

Thank you from Hat Not Hate Recipients

Speaking of collecting things.... Last year we collected blue hats for Hats Not Hate and delivered 518 hats to a local elementary school! The school staff and students were BLOWN away by the love that was put into each hat and couldn't believe every child in the school received one!! This year, we are collecting again, but I'm going to start the collection NOW in order to reach our goal of 550 hats! To read more about the charity, go HERE . They have information about the hat guidelines and pattern suggestions...although you can make ANY hat style that you would like, as long as it is blue! Please consider checking out your stash and see if you can knit/crochet up a hat this year! You don't have to do many hats to be involved...just ONE makes a huge difference! The banners were HUGE and the school was so thankful! Thank YOU to all who helped last year and I look forward to seeing what we can do this year!!  We are collecting now through the beginning of September!

Canuary

I know, we are always collecting SOMETHING around here....but when I learned about "Canuary" I just couldn't say no!! Sigma (a local Auburn business) noticed the shelves at the foodbank were very low and wanted to do something. So they put out the call to local businesses to collect cans of food during the month of January and we answered that call!  If you are doing a little New Years cleaning of the pantry, please consider dropping your cans off here at the shop during the month of January.  Thank you to those who continue to support my passion to collect all sorts of things for people in need!

New Product - Coastal Cotton

I'm always on the search for that perfect worsted-weight cotton that is equal parts great quality and great price. We have so many people who want to start knitting or crocheting, and I am of the opinion that a washcloth is a great place to start. No, this doesn't mean you need to keep making washcloths until you have fully mastered the craft...but it's just a great starting point because it goes fairly quickly (I have heard MANY stories of people casting on a long scarf...then giving up because it NEVER ends!!!!). It's common to get frustrated with a big first project because we want to feel accomplished!! Also, even if there are bumps in the road, a washcloth will still wash things! Who cares if there are some holes, those are where you hang it up!! Anyway...my point! When I discovered this yarn from Queensland Collection I was excited because it is perfect for dishcloths/washcloths and I'm excited to bring it to the shop! Coastal Cotton comes in many colors (we j

Restock of Malabrigo Washted

We just received a new order of Malabrigo Washted and I was looking through Ravelry for some ideas (plus I'm thinking of doing a re-release of one of my patterns using it!) and I was reminded of this pattern collection that I'm OBSESSED with!!!! I know in these color ways it pulls very "Holidays" but change up the color choices and it could have a very different look (or just rock the Holiday look year round, I'm not gonna judge!!!) You can find the pattern beanie pattern HERE  cowl pattern HERE and ear warmer HERE You can find our re-stock of Malabrigo in-store or online HERE P.S. This one is SUPER cute too!! Obviously, I really dig this designer!!  The pattern can be found HERE

Jen's Holiday Getaway

This year was a MAJOR travel year for me! I have always loved traveling to new places, but 2022 was the year I dove right into planning as many trips as possible (both for business and for fun!!!! Sometimes both!!!) We ended the year with a family trip to Sedona, Arizona and of course it was full of crazy moments and beautiful scenery. I appreciated that we had days where we did lots, and other days we didn't get out of our jammies! It's nice to come back from vacation refreshed...and not exhausted!!! I thought I would share some of the highlights! We arrived in Phoenix around noon on Christmas day and had no problem finding grocery stores and restaurants that were open. We found a small mom & pop diner and had the best french fries ever! When we drove up to Sedona. The pickings were slim...REALLY SLIM!!! When my husband ventured out to get our Christmas Dinner...he quickly learned that his only viable option was CVS pharmacy and their fridge & freezer were broken. He c
