Hilde's Corner - Lacy Leaves

Last time I wrote about how much I love fall leaves and said I’d come back with more pattern ideas with leaf designs. How about this beautiful wrap to snuggle up in on those crisp fall days? Deciduous by Mandie Harrington . It goes for $6 on Ravelry and uses bulky weight yarn so it’d knit up nice and fast. I think a new yarn Jen brought in would be lovely for this, Juniper Moon’s Moonshine Bulky I just love this cute sweater and how the leaf sprigs dance around the neck edge - Trisha by Vicky Chan . It runs about $6.79 and is made with worsted weight yarn. I think Cascade Cantata would be so nice for this, or Alba Aran by Jody Long.  Here’s one for the crocheter’s out there, and it’s a free pattern! It’s Leaf Stitch Cowl using worsted weight yarn. Malabrigo Rios would be lovely for this, or Cozy Alpaca Ella Rae . Both so soft around the neck. So many leafy patterns out there! What with these beautiful sunny days we’ve been having, I hope you all are enjoying the leaves as much as I

New yarn - Andeamo Lite Painted

We have carried Andeamo for a couple seasons now...and when I saw this gorgeous Worsted Weight and PAINTED version...it had to be added to the list. This 2 ply yarn is bouncy and airy...but the wool is a little more rustic. If you are looking for a super soft yarn, this might not be your favorite. But if you are looking for a lofty, breathable, long-wearing yarn...this is for you!!!! This new version of Andeamo Lite comes in 6 colors that scream “knit me”! From classic stockinette, to Jody’s trademark cables, these new designs will please all the cable junkies and inspire those yet to discover the cable craze! Think colorwork coats, cozy cowls, and cabled sweaters in this toasty blend of wool and alpaca. Andeamo Lite is comprised of two thick plies that give the finished yarn an excellent cush factor perfect for snuggly finished projects that will keep you warm all winter. Medium Weight / #4 437yds / 200g Hank 80% Wool / 15% Alpaca Suggested Knitting Gauge: 16-20sts over 4in using US 8

A New Leaf Beanie

So let's get something straight here...this is ALLLLLLLLLLLL Hilde's fault!!!  Last week she mentioned in Hilde's corner that the A New Leaf Beanie would be super fun to knit. We just got in a new yarn (which I even mentioned would be awesome for this knit when I introduced the yarn) then I went to bed that night and could NOT get this project out of my head!!!!! I had to knit it immediately and I swear it jumped off my needles! Pattern: A New Leaf Beanie Please note....the pattern is $8.20 on Ravelry and unfortunately it's not available in the LYS program, so you will have to purchase it yourself and it can't be purchased through the shop. However, with all that said....it is worth it and a super fun knit!!! Yarn: Be Wool by Universal Yarn (I used 140g of the 200g ball) AND Young and Trendy by Laines Du Nord (I used 50g of the 100g ball)  This means if you get 2 Be Wool and 1 Young and Trendy you can get 2 hats!

Barely a Beret

I was looking around the shop a few weeks ago and realized we didn't have one single beret! So I cast on a hat immediately This pattern is called Barely a Beret and it is a free pattern on ravelry. I really liked this pattern because it was easy peasy AND it can be a slouch hat or a beret depending on how you block it!! I used a beautiful skein of Dandelions & Daisies DK and it was such a joy to knit!! I brought it with me to Oregon Flock & Fiber and it was an easy project to knit on while I watched them shear sheep!! You can find the yarn instore or use ANY DK weight yarn you have in your stash!!

Hilde's Corner - Fall Leaves

I love so many things about fall, but my absolute favorite thing are the leaves - the beautiful colors get me every time. I love seeing the colors on sunny days, but they sure help brighten those gray days too! I love watching them as they slowly drift down to the ground as well. So, I am very drawn to knitting that has any sort of leaf motif. For this article, I have concentrated on colorwork patterns. What about these fun socks? You get both the acorn pattern and the leaves! And honestly, how cute are acorns? Right? Forever Autumn Socks by Stone Knits (love the pattern name) for about $6.49 on Ravelry. I think Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock has some cute autumn colors and Cascade Heritage Sock as a rainbow of colors to choose from. This looks like a fun and quick hat to knit - A New Leaf Beanie by Karysha Clarke . It sells for about $8.28 on Ravelry and uses Super Bulky yarn to make leaf motifs. Malabrigo Rasta or even Mecha is fun for this. Yarnalia Softy would also be fantasti

Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival 2023

Hello to ewe! Sheep crossing Ya, I know I'm cute! I loved all the knit and woven textiles!  I so love this sweater. It has been hanging out in my favorites on Ravelry and I think it needs to jump onto my needles soon!! This felted piece was stunning from EVERY angle!!! Prize winning sheep are pretty cool! It's SO impressive to watch this guy shear sheep!! I think I watched at least 20 It was a super fun time at Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival!!!

Knitted Knocker Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who came to our knitted knocker night last week AND to customers who shopped last week!!! Together we raised $570 for the charity!!!!! It was very exciting to make this donation today, as I know it will help them a lot in paying for all the postage to deliver knitted knockers to women in need!  Next week we will make our first knitted knocker delivery to a local clinic! If you have a knitted knocker you want to donate, bring it in any time! We will be making frequent deliveries now that we have been assigned to a clinic here in Auburn! If you want to make a donation to help the charity, please do so on their website:  Donations | Donate to Knitted Knockers Thank you again for your support!!

It's the end of an era

I had NO clue I would be this sad...but the adorable plastic bags (you know, the white filagree looking bags we give at checkout???) that I have purchased FOREVER for the shop are no longer being made. It's probably for the best, as I really should be using bags that are better for the planet...AND we really should be encouraging you to bring your own reusable bags! So....here is the plan... #1 You should bring your reusable bag when you shop at A Little Knitty because these biodegradable bags aren't that great. I tested them in the rain and I promise they won't dissolve like rice paper...at least not between here and your car. But they aren't great and they aren't attractive. You should totally bring your own bag. #2. You should bring your reusable bag when you shop at A Little Knitty because we are going to charge the state mandated $0.08 per bag. And paying for bags means you have less money to buy yarn. You should totally bring your own bag. #3. You should bring

Kris' Corner - Pumpkins Galore

October is in full swing and all I can think about is pumpkins. I love them in all forms….seeing them on people’s porches, in pumpkin patches, drinking them in lattes or eating them in pies, cakes or muffins....and of course I love making them. Pumpkins are a very satisfying knitting or crochet project because they come together quickly and look so good when they are completed. I have a few favorite patterns I’m going to share with you but first my all time favorite is “Jumbo Pumpkin” by A Little Knitty.  It calls for bulky Rasta yarn by Malabrigo which comes in rich beautiful colors and is so soft. It turns these pumpkins into a definite eye catcher. I love the look of the seams down the sides and the cinnamon stick stem on the top. If you haven’t made this one and want a fun get together, sign up for Jen’s class, “Pumpkin Together” on October 20 and make it. This is a beginner class and she is supplying all you need! Yes, the yarn, pattern, stuffing and cinnamon stick are all includ

We are getting ready for the Holidays...can you tell? We love Secret Santa and wanted to give two different options this year. In-Person or Virtual. So here are the rules for EVERYONE.... Try to stay within the $50 spending limit (if you are gifting yarn you love but never gonna use and technically didn't spend any money...we will let YOU determine that value. If you knit a lovely hat and feel the value is $50, we stand by that!!) On Elfster the wishlist is ONLY there to help you get to know your person YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PURCHASE FROM IT!!!!!  You can buy them locally, make them, find them laying around the house....whatever!!! Nothing breathing, please...this is not the time to re-home your hamster! Buying local (not necessarily from A Little Knitty) is soooooo encouraged!!!!  Handmade is highly recommended!!! This is going to be lots of fun! If you would like to join our VIRTUAL group please sign up HERE this group will NOT have a formal get together to open gifts, but will be i
