Hilde's Corner - Yarnalia Part 2

The last newsletter Hilda's Corner article I wrote was about our new Yarnalia yarns. I talked about 2 of the 5 bases we have in the shop so this time I want to tell you about the others. When Jen brought in these new yarns, and I saw them for the first time, I swooned!

Last time I talked about Fluffy and Softy, two bulky yarns by Yarnalia. Today I want to talk about Wooly, Marvel, and Joy.

Wooly is a worsted weight wool made of 100% superwash merino wool and it is so so so soft! You have to feel it.

I think Andrea Mowry's Trinigan ($9 on Ravelry) would be a fun use for this yarn.

And for the crocheters out there, what about this sweater - Ariana by Amy Christoffers. (Free on Ravelry!) Both would be such fun to play with colors!

Marvel is a sport weight yarn made up of 60% superwash wool, 20% acrylic, and 20% nylon. Because of all the pretty colors, I keep trying to find patterns that incorporate more than one color!

I like Joji Locatelli’s Lace & Fade Boxy (on Ravelry for $8) - love that colored stripes mix with lace stripes.

Going with just one color, this next pattern would be so pretty - Trail of Leaves by Kay Hopkins ($8 on Ravelry).

The last yarn is Joy, a lace weight made of 100% baby alpaca. Also very soft!! (you can understand why I swoon over these yarns). I have not knit with lace much, so I had a lot of fun looking up patterns for this yarn.

A Hap for Harriet by Kate Davies (~$6.60 on Ravelry) is a mostly garter stitch shawl with a lacey edge. Simple yet beautiful!

A more challenging shawl is Manuia by Julia-Maria Hegenbart utilizing brioche and two colors of yarn.(Free on Ravelry!)

For the crocheters out there, this is a stunning wrap - Wisteria by Bernadette Ambergen (~$6.60 on Ravelry).

I hope to see you soon so you can check out these yarns for yourself. I would love to see what you decide to make with them!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
