Hilde's Corner - Yarnalia Part 1

We got some new yarn in that I have totally fallen head over heels in love with! The yarn is by Yarnalia and she brought in several different bases and weights.

The one that caught my eye from the first moment is called Fluffy - it is a Chunky weight made with 70% acrylic and 30% wool. The wool in this makes the yarn so soft! The colors this comes in are what drew me in. They are muted, yet colorful. What I really want to knit with this yarn is a lap throw that I can snuggle in while watching TV. (Everyone else in my family has a lap blanket but me. This one is MINE!!!) Not sure what pattern I will use or if I'll just make it up as I go, but I know I want to use at least 4 colors if not all of them!

So I've been searching for patterns that would use this wonderful Fluffy Yarnalia yarn. I found a few that would be super cute for kids going back to school! The first is Dog Bag Rucksack by Knitting by Post.

It sells on Ravelry for about $6.60 and uses Chunky yarn. I imagine him in all sorts of colors and think he's just adorable! The other cute one for kids going back to school is a crocheted lunch bag called Lunch Monsters - Lunch Bag by Ling Ryan

It's on Ravelry for about $4. How fun would it be to eat lunch with this guy?

The other bulky yarn base we got by Yarnalia is called Softy, which is a single-ply roving type yarn made of 100% merino. Softy is bulkier than Fluffy and the colors are much deeper on this base. Looking for patterns for this yarn, I found this cute hat.

Grizzly Bear Beanie by Kari Pedersen that sells for about $5 on Ravelry.
Another fun hat is called Riverbend Beanie for $6 on Ravelry. Doing it up in stripes of color would be super fun!

And how about this sweet baby blanket by Jared Flood called Wool Leaves? It's $8 on Ravelry. Such a sweet blanket.

There are three more Yarnalia bases, which Jen touched upon in this newsletter...but I'll deep dive into them in the next Hilde's Corner! If you can't wait, come into the shop and you can help me drool over these new yarns.

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2
