Cantata Restock

A couple weeks ago I met with our Cascade rep and she shared with me a new pattern by Wool & Pine using Cantata yarn. I've always been a huge Cantata fan, I have two sweaters in the yarn!! I love how it's a larger gauge yarn, but doesn't overheat me! And the stitch definition is just beautiful.

So anywho...the pattern...

She turned her ipad towards me and I actually gasped. I completely fell in love with the sweater! Isn't it just stunning??? Then reality struck...I could tell the construction would not be my beloved top down raglan (hello, I'm a lazy knitter) AND it was so fully cabled my cabling hook may catch fire. But, you just can't say no to a sweater that you want this much!

So I grabbed the yarn (the color I wanted was in stock here at the shop and I had the exact number of skeins it called for for my size...it was meant to be!!!) then I purchased and downloaded the pattern. I sat, a little stunned, as I realized I would need to knit a 15" wide gauge swatch. FIFTEEN INCHES?????? REALLY????

I gave serious thought to going rogue and not doing the gauge swatch...but because of the construction of this sweater, I can't try it on as I go...and I wasn't about to gamble with this baby. I actually learned/reinforced a lot of things as I knit my cute little/big swatch (I am making my musings into a series that I'll share on FB and Instagram!!!)

Meanwhile, Hilde was doing some research for her Hilde's Corner and she came across the same gosh darn sweater!!! One day I was excited to show her the new sweater I started...and she looked at me like I was crazy...how did I know about the sweater that she just discovered?! This sweater is SOOOOO Hilde's jam too!!

Anyway...all this to say...I stepped outside my normal and embraced something that makes me rub a few more brain cells together...and so far I haven't died! ;)

I look forward to sharing my progress with you!! Oh...and these are the new colors of Cantata that just arrived (the point of this article!)

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2
