A Little Knitty

This year the Auburn Downtown Association put together a drive to collect items for Seniors in Need. Our shop was one of about 10 businesses downtown who collected and it's overwhelming to hear the grand totals!! I know Auburn gets a bad wrap, I hear it a lot, but when it comes to heart...this community has it in spades! Not only were the donations impressive, but it is also so cool that this was done with pretty much no advertising. We just tossed some wreaths at local businesses, gave minimal direction and they ran with it. Business owners chatted with their customers, who really are more like family than customers. They shared information about seniors in need and the public really came through for us. Then another magical thing happened. When our customers shopped at OTHER small businesses for the items on the list, those businesses added more goodies for the seniors. THIS is why we need Main Streets and Local, Small Businesses!!!
