Floops & Flox have arrived!!!

We are so excited to announce that we are now a stockist for Floops & Flox!!! First up, Floops... Use any size Floops marker with any size needle you prefer. The idea is for both needles to fit comfortably into the marker for easy sliding - but here are some recommendations: Needle size (US) - Floops size We really like the mini for sock knitting!! US 000 thru 4 - small US 5 thru 9 - medium You can find the floops in-store or online HERE And the Flox.... The floops Flox multi-tool! Stitch Marker! Cable needle! Stitch holder! Dropped stitch fixer! Small seam baster! Our customers keep coming up with more uses. As traditional stitch markers they slip effortlessly from needle-to-needle. As locking/removable markers they slip easily into your stitch - you can even work it one-handed! No need to put down your project. You can find the Flox in-store or online HERE

Lantern Moon Swivel Cords

I adore Lantern Moon needles...they are like knitting with butter!!! But one of the things I love the most, are the cords! They have memory-free cables and swivel tips!!!! We now have the Lantern Moon swivel cords in stock and they work with all Knitters Pride, Lykke and Knit Picks tips!!  I love these cords so much that when I saw the pricetag was higher than other cords, I was still ok with paying that. But then they came in and you get TWO cords to a pack!!!! And beautiful wood stoppers and the most amazing tightener I own!! You can find them in-store or online HERE

Hilde's Corner

The holidays are nearly here, and hopefully you’ve all finished any gift knitting you were hoping to do! I just got mine done, and love the feeling of looking forward to a little selfish knitting. Maybe even something a little mindless.  I allowed myself to cast-on for Antarktis by Janina Kallio which goes for about $9.68 on Ravelry. It’s one I’ve knit before but I really love it.(it’s one of those that’s fun to knit as well as wear!) As it calls for a fingering weight yarn, I decided to do it this time in Malabrigo Mechita. Another simple shawl/scarf that caught my eye is My Little Lace Scarf by Lisa Hannes , about $7.40 on Ravelry. It does have lace work on it, but it doesn’t look terribly complicated. It also uses fingering weight yarn. I would definitely use a solid or tonal for this, nothing with any variegation as it would take away from the lacework. Heritage Sock from Cascade would be so pretty for this. Herriot Fine by Juniper Moon Farm would be beautiful for this as well

The secret life of pom poms

Pom poms not only come in lots of different sizes, but they come with different ways to attach them! #1. DIY pompom For this pom pom you will need a pom pom maker and some yarn (we used leftovers from knitting this blue hat). After you make the pom pom, make sure you have 2 long tails that you can use to thread through a button on the inside of the hat and tie.  Below you will see we threaded the two long tails through the large button and we will tie a bow. This means that the button is not sewn into the hat, but just tied around it to add stability to your pom pom.  This means your pom pom is completely removable if you want to change your pom pom or wash the hat. You can purchase this pom pom maker on our website HERE #2. Faux Fur Pom with small elastic loop For this type of pom pom we sew a button into the inside of the hat when we weave in the ends. Then put a crochet hook up through the top of the hat, grab the elastic loop and pull it to the inside of the hat and secure it aroun
