Hilde's Corner April 24th

Spring has sprung!  Sunny days, rainy days, hail days - typical spring weather. As much as I love seeing the sun and blue skies, however, there is something about spring that saddens me - am I the only one that feels this way? I hate to see sweater weather end.  I love sweaters. I am a sweater weather kinda gal! I love snuggling into them, I love getting warm by them, and I love making them. And now that warm weather is here, we have to say goodbye to our dearly beloved sweater wearing days. I am not usually too keen to work on sweaters during warm months, but in one way it IS a good time to work on them so by the time cool weather arrives, a new sweater might be ready to wear! So in honor of our dearly departed sweater weather, here are some sweater patterns I found when I couldn’t help myself and had to see what was out there: I love the cable details on this pullover La Dijonnaise by Nora Bea . It sells on Ravelry for about $10.60. It calls for sport weight yarn  - I think Queensla

Pacific Prints

I have been stuffed chicken crazy for a little bit now. I saw the adorable knit one, but decided to do a crochet one for a friend (hello, crochet goes so much faster) but then I kept seeing the knit chicken over and over again on Instagram and in person at other yarn shops. I just knew I HAD to make one! I brought in a fun new yarn called Pacific Prints just for this chicken! It stripes up SOOOO perfectly for this short row filled pattern!! We have kits available in the shop while supplies last...or you can use scraps of worsted weight yarn and create your own!! You can find this new yarn in-store or online HERE

Happy National Banana Day!

I found lots of banana patterns, but my favorite by far were these banana socks! You can find the FREE pattern on Ravelry HERE And you can find all sorts of banana patterns HERE  (you need to be logged into Ravelry to see this)

Potholder Looms

Did you notice that one of the winners in our Facebook Group last night had a finished object that wasn't knit or crochet?? It was made with a potholder loom!!! How stinkin' cute is that??? When we think of potholders made with those loops, we usually think stretchy nylon in pastel colors and you don't DARE use it as an actual potholder or it will melt right to your pot!!! But these next generation potholder kits are made with 100% cotton loops and there are websites dedicated to really elevating this craft!!! The best resource BY FAR is Piglet's Potholder Patterns . You will find so many gorgeous patterns and they are free! You can even download a .pdf with 528 charts that work for the orginal and the pro potholder loom!! We have the traditional and pro looms in stock and some of the refill packs . You can view ALLLLLL the colors available on the card below.  And you can see all the colorpacks on their website . Just let us know what colors you need and we will put i

Kolorblock

Sometimes a pattern just smacks me upside the head and says...YOU MUST MAKE ME!!!! That's what happened when I stumbled upon this pattern by  Justyna Lorkowska  (if that name looks familiar, she is the designer of ' Close to you' which might be the MOST popular knit pattern in the shop!!! It is SOOOOO popular and the perfect use for one skein of fingering weight yarn!) Ok....back to the pattern that smacked me upside the head....it is called Kolorblok and I adore EVERYTHING about the pattern. The shape, the use of colorblocking, the colors she used!!!! I immediately sent it to Maribel with alllllll the heart eyes!! If you have mini skeins laying around and not sure how to use them up....this would be a great pattern! And check out all the beautiful shawls that have been knit up already! There are almost 100 projects listed here  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kolorblok/people You can find the $7 pattern at  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kolorblok

Spring Break Series April 2024

It's no secret that I LOVE teaching people how to knit/crochet/craft...but I especially LOVE teaching young people how to do it! I have found that kids take to crafts in a totally different way than adults do! Adults are a little more timid and careful to not make a mistake...kids run at whatever craft it is at FULL FORCE and throw complete caution to the wind. It's usually a little crazy...and I LOVE it!!! During the week of April 9th to 12th we will offer a different class each day at 2pm (it happens to be Auburn School District's SPRING BREAK!!!). Take one, or take them all!  Loom Pot Holders - $40 - 2 Hours - Instructor: Jen Reeves Tuesday, April 9th 2pm to 4pm Making pot holders with these looms has been popular for decades…time to get the younger generations hooked too! In this class we will learn how to make pot holders with loops. The kids will get to play with colors, learn to weave them in and out and how to finish.  Class includes: Loom set with enough loops to m

Kris' & Hilde's Corner - Happy 1st Day of Spring

We don't have a schedule or topic list for Hilde or Kris' Corners...we like to keep it organic. This week both submitted articles on the SAME topic...so I just had to make it a Kris & Hilde corner...enjoy!!! Kris' part of the corner... It’s The First Day of Spring! My daffodils are blooming and birds are singing their hearts out and the sun has been shining consistently for how many straight days now!?!….Hello Spring! I don’t know about you but I’m ready for some sunshine. I’m not a naïve Washingtonian, I know we have more rainy blustery days ahead but the sunshine has lifted my spirits and my knitting dreams so here’s what’s on my needles. When Capella Luna had their trunk show I was immediately drawn to the tweed sock yarn. My son has been asking for some socks so I showed him the colors and he quickly chose Tweedy Sock “Ferry”, a beautiful green. We picked out a cable sock that he liked and I’ve been working away.   The pattern is, “ Men’s Cable Socks” by KittyKi
