Hilde's Corner

How are you all doing with holiday gifts? Still need a few to knock out quick-like? I found these cute gifts that I think could work up fast.

For the book lovers on your list, I think these cute crocheted chicken bookmarks are hilarious! Crochet Colorful Chicken Bookmark by PurrCraftedDesign. The pattern sells for $4.95 on Ravelry and calls for a sport weight cotton. The shop sells a DK cotton that would also work beautifully for these cuties - Ricorumi

Another bookmark pattern is Leaf Bookmark & Garland Motif by Joey Diehl. This pattern is FREE and calls for Worsted weight yarn, so Uptown Worsted would be perfect for this.

How about a sweet pocket friend for a child? This one is super basic, called Worry Pet by Blue Fox Paws and is a FREE pattern and uses any gauge yarn! It would be fun to use a textured yarn, or a fuzzy kind, but any yarn works. You can opt to put the ears on or not. We have safety eyes in the shop, too!

Do you know someone who uses Airpods and could use a cozy to keep the case protected? Here is a FREE knitting pattern called AirPod Cozy by Olga Olach

If you prefer to crochet an Airpod case, and have a little more time to add details, this pattern is super cute - Cat & Dog Airpods Case by Meemanan. This one sells for $4 on Ravelry. Both patterns call for fingering weight yarn so Cascade Heritage would work, as would many of our locally dyed fingering weight yarns.

Maybe you’re opting to give out some gift cards. How about Coffee Mug Gift Card Holder by Sarah Zimmerman ? A FREE crochet pattern that would look so cute on any coffee gift card.

I love that this knit gift card holder is called “gift card-igan”: Tree Gift Card-igans by Julie Tarsha sells for $3 on Ravelry. Both of these gift card holders use worsted weight yarn, and we have Uptown Worsted here in the shop just waiting to be used for something fun like this!

These next few might take a little longer, but for some of you out there, these might be just the ticket.
A Friendly Facecloth by Petiteknit is so cute with its simple little embroidered face. I have always loved this type of washcloth where your hand fits inside, so that’s also a plus in my book. This pattern is FREE! Cotton Supreme yarn would be perfect for this.

Starlight Basket by Toni Lipsey is a useful and sweet gift idea. It sells for $5 on Ravelry and uses a Bulky weight yarn. I think Yarnalia Fluffy would be great for this gift, or Universal Yarn’s Maman. You would need 200 yds to make this cute little basket.

And for one more cute little toy idea, this Little Teddy Bear by Luba Andrushchenko. He’s such a sweetie and I think any child would love to get a friend like this. The pattern is FREE and is knit top-down with only his hands, ears, and muzzle needing to be knit separately and sewn on, and then minimal embroidery. He’s made with DK weight yarn, so I believe Uptown DK would make a soft snuggly bear or Mystical Marl would give his coat a heathered look.

I hope these last minute gift ideas were helpful. I wish you all Happy Holidays and may all your gifts be finished and ready in time!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap

Free Pattern - Moose Mountain Cowl

This eliminates the purl stitches looking a little funky (if you know, you know).  We decreased by 25% of the stitches about halfway through the cowl to allow the top of the cowl to be a little closer to the neck and the bottom spread over your shoulders if you want to wear it that way! We gave you little check boxes to check off as you complete repeats. **PATTERN** Using Main Color, CO92, place stitch marker and join in the round Round 1: (K2, P2) Repeat parentheses all the way around Repeat Round 1 six more times       ⃞          ⃞...
