Cozy Alpaca Restock

We also brought in a few new colors of this chunky yarn (ya, again with the alpaca...but it's SOOOOOOOO soft!) I'm thinking of making lots of earwarmers with this yarn...they will knit up fast and make great gifts! My favorite is a seed stitch like this one... You can find the free pattern HERE You can find the yarn in-store (this is one that you NEEEEED to squish) or find it online HERE The solid colors are only $13 a skein...which is a STEAL!!! Ella Rae's Cozy Alpaca Chunky is a delightfully soft, washable bulky yarn that knits up super quick on US 10 (6mm) needles. This acrylic and alpaca yarn looks and feels luxurious, with fabulous drape, and would be ideal for cozy scarves, cardigans or even blankets.  ELLA RAE BULKY Cozy Alpaca Chunky 70% Acrylic, 30% Baby Alpaca Available as 100 gram x 120 yard skeins

Introducing Alpamayo

I might have been drunk on yarn fumes when the yarn rep handed me this new yarn by Jody Long...because I instantly fell in love and told the rep to order it in every color! Alpamayo is a worsted weight, 50% cotton 50% baby alpaca yarn that is SOOOO soft and a great alternative for someone is allergic to sheep's wool (my apologies to those who have alpaca allergies...we have lots of other fibers!!!)  I went searching for the perfect pattern to show off this yarn, and the Dovetail Cowl was a HUGE winner!!! The cadence of the slipped stitches is easy to memorize and knits up fast! It's a really great slipped stitch pattern if you want to tackle mosaic knitting! Not only was the yarn perfect for the cowl...but I think this will make for a great class (coming this January or February!!!!) You can find the yarn in-store or online HERE Pattern:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dovetail-cowl-3

Blu Fiber Restock

As soon as Joshua at Blu Fiber posted these DK weight mini sets I messaged him and told him to take all my money!!!!  DK mini sets are so great for hats and other projects where you need small pops of color.  I think this colorwork project would be amazing with these minis! Pattern:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/yaka I'm using one of the sets to knit up this lovely crop sweater  Pattern:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/soldotna-crop Oh...and I had to get a few 100g skeins too...because they begged to come live here!!!! You can find these yarns and more in-store or online HERE

Free Pattern Alert - Cupido Cowl

This cowl was a SUPER fast and fun knit! I cast on 140 stitches and I did go up to a size 9 needle (because I'm a tighter knitter and the fabric was way too dense) Rachel is knitting one up with two colors (changes her color each repeat) and it's looking SOOOO good!!! Perfect 1 skein project if you want a smaller cowl or a 2 skein project for a deeper cowl! Yarn: Jadawoo Designs in Aran Pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cupido-cowl

Class Highlight - Entrelac Cowl

Learn to knit entrelac patterns while making a cowl or scarf.  The entrelac technique creates a deeply textured diagonal basketweave, and it’s great for self-striping or variegated yarns.  If you can confidently knit, purl, decrease, and have some experience picking up stitches, you can do entrelac.  Class includes pattern. Materials :    100 g DK weight yarn (we recommend Drifter) Size US6 knitting needles, 3 buttons, tapestry needle & scissors. Homework before class : Cast on 24 stitches (loosely), and knit 6 rows (three garter ridges). Skill Level: Intermediate Requirements: Must know how to cast on, bind off, knit and purl Instructor Name: Melinda Morrow You can find the yarn in-store or online HERE You can find the listing for the class HERE

Crochet Teddy Class

This Sunday we will have Teresa in the shop teaching how to crochet teddy bears!! We will be using chenille (easier to see the stitches, but still snuggly) but she whipped up a second bear in our favorite fur yarn just to show the versatility of this pattern! Join us on Sunday to create your own adorable bear!!! Register for this class in-store or online HERE

Restocked Document Holders & Other Notions

Document Holders are back in stock! They come in Large & Small  We also have a restock of Beam N' Read ...as the evenings get darker...shed some light on your project with these lights! Stainless Sock Blockers are back too...but because of their awkward shape, they are only available in store! We started stocking all those holiday favorites like tape measure bracelets and wood yarn bowls too! All of the items mentioned here make GREAT Holiday Gifts for the yarn lover in your life!

Bag Charge

The $0.08 per bag charge will begin October 1st. The bags we provide fall under the reusable category because of their thickness. To avoid this charge we encourage you to bring your own bags when you shop at A Little Knitty!  Beginning October 1, 2021 businesses that make retail sales may no longer provide their customers with single-use plastic bags. Additionally, such retailers must collect a charge of 8 cents on each reusable carry-out bag provided to their customers.

Greek Mosaic Hat

I JUST finished this hat (even wove the ends in!!!) It was a super fun knit using Reflection Farms yarn (it's LOCAL yarn spun from LOCAL sheep!!!!) On Labor Day my bestie and our girls went to Reflection Farms to meet Alice (the shepherdess) and all her adorable sheep! Of course I couldn't leave without buying some yarn for the shop! The pattern is one I found on Ravelry (actually, a customer found it on Ravelry) and it's FREE and so well written!!! I am pretty sure this will be turned into a class at some point! If you are interested in giving mosaic knitting a try...this pattern is perfect!!! Find the pattern HERE Currently the yarn is only available in-store...but it will be online shortly! If you would like to have it shipped to your door, just contact us and we can make it happen!

Spam Email Problems

I'm having difficulties getting emails to those who take classes. I'm working on a work around so that I don't get sent to spam....but if you take a class or make a purchase online and DON'T get an email from my system, it's because your email thinks I'm spam (to be fair, I send out blind copy emails to multiple people at a time...so I do look a little spammy!) Please visit: https://api.elasticemail.com/contact/subscribe?version=2&pID=3add5ef2-a1b3-11e0-a69b-12313b0611f6 so that you can tell the system "hey, I want this email!"

Join the Community Coral Reef

Today I received a super cute letter from the Community Coral Reef Project They are looking for knitters, crocheters, weavers and felters to create and donate pieces to their Community Coral Reef Project. They are creating an installation which will allow people to walk through an underwater fiber art world. They welcome donations of healthy and bleached corals, underwater creatures and items made from reclaimed and recycled plastics. Their goal is to emphasize the beauty and diversity of the undersea world while educating about climate change and pollution by maritime plastics. Their deadline is August 1, 2023. They hope to display their reef at a number of locations through the Pacific Northwest. They will start at the Lincoln City Cultural Center with an installation in September 2023.  Please visit: www.coralknitfiberarts.com and click on The Community Coral Reef Project for more information, free patterns and inspiration! I just finished this sweater yesterday, and I'm living in it all weekend!!! It's cozy and light-weight!  You can find the pattern HERE I used 3 skeins of Darnie (You can find it in-store or online HERE ) but you could use United , Rainbow Beach , Bella Cash or Arroyo too! The pattern calls for Sport weight, but I found the Darnie (which is technically fingering weight) worked GREAT for me!

Stephen West MKAL

Every year Stephen West does a Mystery Knit Along.  This year will be his 12th year!  Past MKALs have resulted in some of the most loved and treasured Westknits shawl patterns  including Exploration Station , The Doodler and Slipstravaganza .    We will help you put together 5 skeins if you need any assistance, or stash-dive to put together your colors for the shawl (or bring in what you would like to use, and we can help fill in the blanks!!!) Frequently Asked Questions What is an MKAL? MKAL stands for Mystery Knit A Long! Knit Alongs (KALs) are fun, social activity in which a group of knitters all make the same project in a specified timeframe. A Mystery Knit Along adds an extra level of spice, because you won't know what the thing you're knitting is when you start. A section of the pattern (clue) is released each week, and at the end of the Knit Along, the final design is revealed.  The Westknits MKAL is always a shawl design, and always incorporates interesting techniques (

Introducing our teachers...Melinda

We have a new teacher here at A Little Knitty!!  Here is a little about Melinda in her own words! I learned to knit in 2000, and promptly became obsessed with learning all the techniques (and starting all the projects). I've taught classes on socks, lace, colorwork, double knitting, and brioche in Seattle and Burien as well as in Texas, and designed a few knitting patterns. When I'm not learning new things about knitting, I also sew, spin, weave, and crochet and generally try to fill my Auburn home with as many textiles as possible. In October, Melinda will teach a couple classes... Fancy Brioche  You can read more about this class HERE . Register in-store or online ! Double Knit Coasters You can read more about this class HERE . Register in-store or online !
