Cantata Yarn

A few weeks ago I finished the Love Note sweater in Cantata Yarn. At first I wasn't sure if I liked this yarn for this sweater...but the more I wear it...the more I love it! It's not as light and lofty as the Love Note that I made a couple years ago, but I LOVE how well the lace turned out with the Cantata yarn and how much structure it lends to the sweater. I just received in a shipment of different colors of Cantata...check them out! I'm contemplating another sweater with this lovely yarn...The Turtledove  This sweater has been on my must knit list FOREVER and I think this yarn would be lovely for this knit! You can also find pattern inspiration HERE if you are curious what other people are doing with Cantata by Cascade! You can find our inventory in-store or online HERE

Knitting Kits for Kids

Over the last couple of months, I have been approached by two schools that are putting together a knitting group for kids. Of course, this is something close to my heart, so I hatched a plan to help these kids get knitting!!!  I have put together kits for these kids that include yarn for a scarf, cotton for dishcloths, and knitting needles. To keep the program cost-effective for the schools, we are asking our community to purchase these kits that we can then give to the kiddos. A Little Knitty will also match, so for every kit purchased, A Little Knitty will donate a second kit!! We will also tuck a gift card in so the kids can come get more yarn if they really dig the craft! If you would like to purchase a kit, you can purchase in-store or online HERE

There's a class for that - Baby Sweaters

Baby Sweater Class Cost: $ 75.00 Sun, Apr 3, 2022 at Noon to 3:00 pm AND Sun, Apr 10, 2022 at Noon to 3:00 pm Sweater knitting can seem a little intimidating due to the sheer size of the project, construction and shaping concerns, and seaming. But with this class it isn’t. For starters we will be knitting either a girl or boy 6-12 month size sweater. I will lead you step by step through the knitting process for a top down, raglan sleeve cardigan with knitted in button bands. This type of construction has no seaming so finishing is a breeze. After completing your adorable baby sweater you will have the skills and confidence to tackle any size sweater with similar construction. This pattern is easily adaptable for different stitch patterns and embellishments so it may become your favorite go-to baby sweater to knit for the little ones in your life. Experience Level Required: must be able to knit and purl Materials Student Brings: size 7 - 24” circular needles, approximately 220 yards of

How do I use this - Hank of Yarn

If you have been using yarn for awhile, you probably know how to use yarn that is put up in a hank...but think back to when you tried to wind your very first hank of yarn. If your story is anything like mine, you made a HUUUUUUUGE mess!!! So, first of all, why does yarn even come like this?? Shouldn't all yarn just come in a ball? Hand-dyed yarns are dyed in hank form and it's easiest to keep it in that form because hanks travel a LOT better than wound balls. It's also better for storage, as yarn that is wound puts tension on the fiber. This is why most natural fibers will be in hank form and most man-made/processed fibers will be put into a ball. Of course, there is ALWAYS the exception to the rule that just leaves me scratching my head! :) Before using the yarn, you will need to wind it into a ball. You can do this with a swift & ball winder (we are happy to do this for you, just ask!) or you can do it at home if you have your own swift and ball winder. Other options
