Alaska 2026

You may have seen our little video on social media of our cruise...but I wanted to share some photos here as well...plus a link to our 2027 cruise!!! This year we had the conference room the WHOLE TIME. This was a nice space that we could escape to. But I noticed this year we kinda missed being out in the ship. So the 2027 cruise will be a nice balance of both! I love food...it's true! I love trying new things, weird combinations or something I would never order if I was spending my hard earned money. I tried a few dishes that just didn't spark joy...but the nice thing is that I could order something else and there was NO risk of going hungry!!! I did eat a LOT of seafood, that is for sure!!! Our first project was a cup carrier and so many people finished theirs!!! Here is Susan posing with hers like it is a fish that she caught!! Hilde AND Kris' Corner

With Jen away on the crochet cruise to Alaska, Kris and I feel a bit left out and thought you might be feeling that way, too. So Kris and I wanted to bring you a taste of Alaska, with pattern ideas we were inspired by from our trip last year. Last summer was a knitting cruise, so most of the patterns here are for knitting. (Sorry, crocheters) First, we have Memories of Juneau by Melissa Highfill . It’s a free pattern available on Ravelry. It comes from Changing Tides in Juneau using locally hand-dyed yarns in colors inspired by totem poles. Kris loved this pattern and has knit it twice. This shawl is easily customizable using colors that inspire you, and you can even change the number of colors used if you so wish. This is an easy knit using fingering weight yarn. For the most color options, Cascade Heritage would work nice for this. I can see it done in greens and browns for PNW colors, or different shades of blues to mimic the ocean or a favorite lake, etc etc. Kris says this patt...

Hilde's Corner

I just finished a few projects I thought would be fun to share with you.  The first one was a test knit for socks that I think are so cute. A flock of sheep at the leg with one that seems to have wandered away from the flock on the heel. The wandering sheep is duplicate stitched onto the heel with an option to stitch the flock’s guardian dog. The pattern is Flock Socks by Tracy Workman and is $6 on Ravelry. I used Square Peg yarn for the meadow as it was a perfect green with the speckles adding texture to the meadow. Cascade Heritage was used for the rest of the sock. Next is Reina de Picas Tee_2.0 by Valentina Bogdanova selling for about $9.75 on Ravelry. The neck is so pretty with the scalloped edge and the lace yoke was a lot of fun to knit. The yoke comes with the option of two depths, as well as the option to make the lace less holey, if you prefer a less revealing lace. It calls for sport weight yarn so I chose Queensland United to knit this, as I really love this yarn. I...
