Kris' Corner - New Year...New Project

I don’t know what it is about starting a new knitting project that just makes me feel good. Maybe I should add, “anticipating a new knitting” project as well. Somehow new yarn and a new pattern makes me want to immediately get it on the needles. So, as I finished making all of my knitted gifts, I intentionally held off on starting a new project until January. I knew I would feel a bit of the after holidays let down and would crave some comfort and joy heading into the New Year.

For 2023 my 1st new project is actually a crocheting project. I'm a knitter at heart but decided to take a beginner crochet class with Teresa to broaden my horizons and, truth be told, I found this beautiful crocheted market bag and I had to make it.

I happened to be with the rest of the “A Little Knitty” staff on our retreat and I spotted the “Dunya Market Bag” at Bazaar Girls Yarn Shop in Port Townsend and fell in love.

I confess that at first I was disappointed that it was a crochet pattern and not a knit one but Jen and Teresa assured me I could do it and so here we are (don't they look like they are up to no good??).

I found some beautiful yarn and have my Crochet hook US E at the ready and I’m going to jump in.

Do you have a new project lined up to begin the New Year or one you are thinking about trying?

Join me as we head into 2023 with needles or crochet hook in hand!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
