Holiday Break Knitting

While we were on Holiday Break...the A Little Knitty crew was busy knitting and relaxing!

First, we will check in with Kris and see what she was up to!

Kris has been working on her sweater which is part of an impromptu knit-a-long with Hilde and Patty from Sit-n-Stitch. Its fun sometimes to just grab a few friends around the Sit-n-Stitch table and knit the same thing together. It doesn't have to be an official KAL by any means!!

The lovely sweater is knit with United by Queensland and the pattern is called Ostinato by Fogbound Knits. Kris says, "the lace is fun, but can be hard".

Kris also knit up some bulky hats...pictured here is A Snowy Walk Hat from A Little Knitty Designs! She used a skein of Rasta and added a cute leather tag!

Hilde tried her hardest to knit during our winter break, but her hands had other plans! She has been struggling with hand pain and it really flared up recently!

Here is her Ostinato sweater in progress

Teresa had a little crafting ADD (if you know her, you probably aren't shocked) first up was a kit from A Little Knitty (we sold out of the books and the kits...but both will be back!!!!) How adorable is this Mt. Rainier hat??

Another project Teresa enjoyed during the break was the Montana Mountain Cowl...

And that's all she confessed to...but I'm certain there was some weaving and spinning involved!

Maribel used her yarn to create this hat of beauty!
She has knit this pattern a few times and really loves it.

Jen knit her little hands off in Sedona.
Knitting before breakfast, while she watched TV with the family or....as the picture shows...in the laundromat. She was very excited to start and finish the project in Sedona!

This cowl is called the Killer Queen Cowl and all you need are 3 skeins of Rios (2 skeins background color, 1 skein contrast color). Jen said, "The pattern was so well written and at two points I wasn't sure I was reading it correctly (too much wine) and there were great videos to help support her amazing pattern!! I highly recommend this addictive knit!"

She also had a special project just for the plane & driving around. It's a simple enough project that she can tell her husband how to drive AND knit at the same time!

All you need is the pattern (Pioneer Braid Scarf on Ravelry) and 1 ball of  Tsubame from Noro!! Jen has taught this class in the past and it will be coming back this spring!

We enjoyed our time off to prepare for the year ahead of us!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
