🍄Happy National Mushroom Day! This day happens on Oct. 15 this year, and I know you don’t want to miss it. (Anyone else know this was a day? I did not) Though I am no mushroom forager, I do enjoy the autumn season and seeing mushrooms out in the wild just makes me happy. What a fun idea for this article - mushroom inspired patterns!
Mystical mushroom & Mushroom season sock set by Renarde Endormie is a pattern for two different versions of mushroom socks. This stranded colorwork pattern sells for about $5.50. It calls for fingering (sock) weight yarn. I think it would be so much fun deciding on colors for these pairs of socks. Cascade Heritage is perfect for this.

Choose Your Own Fungi by Sarah L Kelly is a choose your own adventure type of sweater where you can choose what chart of mushroom and other forest things you want to include in your own personal sweater. It uses fingering weight yarn so my favorite for stranded colorwork is Cascade Heritage with all the beautiful colors they have to choose from. This sweater pattern sells for about $9 on Ravelry.
There's Fungus Among Us by Mary Annarella is a stranded colorwork knit hat pattern. It goes for $6.99 on Ravelry and uses a DK weight yarn. I think Jody Long Ciao would work well for this hat, or Uptown DK.
I really love these Fall Mushroom Baskets by Hannah Cross that are done in crochet in three different sizes. It sells for about $7 on Ravelry and uses worsted weight yarn held double. Uptown Worsted yarn would be perfect for this. I think these little baskets would make adorable plant holders, too.

Mushroom Tote Bag by Rachel Veenstra is free on Ravelry and is also crocheted using aran or worsted weight yarn. Again, Uptown Worsted would be my choice for this cute tote bag.

Mushroom Sprite by Stephanie Buckner is a sweet little mushroom doll selling for about $5 on Ravelry. She is made with a sport weight cotton. Ricorumi DK, a slightly thicker cotton yarn, would work well for this doll.

Amanita Mushroom Doll by Fox & Folk is a knitted stuffed doll, also sweet, that comes with a baby mushroom wrapped in a leaf! It sells for $5 on Ravelry using worsted weight yarn. Again, Uptown Worsted would work great for this. However, if you wanted to use a wool yarn, Deluxe Worsted would be a great option here.
I hope you enjoyed my mushroom pattern foraging! Happy National Mushroom Day! 🍄
