Kris' Corner - Football Season is Here

It's almost September and football season is already upon us. Truth be told I’m much more of a baseball fan than a football fan, but I recently knit a newborn football hat for a friend and wanted to share the pattern.

Maybe you have seen it in the shop on display. It is “The Newborn Wilson Hat” and knits up looking like a football.

I used Uptown Worsted in the perfect chocolate brown and Cotton Supreme white for the laces and stripe. It was a quick knit and my friend loved it! What a perfect baby gift for your football loving friends.

For those of you who like to crochet there is a crochet pattern for this as well called “It’s Football Season Beanie”. It’s a free pattern on Ravelry!

If you are interested in a Seahawks theme check out this hat, also on display at A Little Knitty next to the perfect yarn, Cascade Heritage Prints which is a self-striping superwash merino wool and nylon in the Seahawks colors. The yarn does all the striping for you so you don’t have to pay attention to colorwork changes as you knit along. Its subtle color changes are so pretty and the pom pom tops it off perfectly. The pattern is called YAS Hat and can be found on Ravelry for Free!

Ravelry has a ton of Seahawks patterns from simple to complex. One of my favorites is a simple beanie with “12” on the side called, “Seahawks 12 Beanie” and is $4.75 on Ravelry.

Another is “Seahawks Hat”. This is a fun crochet pattern with a cool seahawk face and long braids. Any kid or adult would stand out a game in this one!

So, if you are ready to get your football mojo going check these out. They will definitely keep your head warm while cheering from the stands or make a nice addition to your football merch helping make you a true “12” while watching the game on your couch.

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
