I have always been a fan of tweed wool yarns. Those little cute nubs just bring sophistication (or at least I think so!). Lately, so many of the new yarns that I LOVE are variations on tweed, using contrasting colors to speckle the yarn or different fibers to give texture. I purchased my fall yarns months ago, but as they come in there is an overarching theme....TWEED!!! So let me introduce you to a few new friends!
In the fingering weight category, I brought in Kathmandu Fingering. Last year I brought this yarn in and knit a sweater with it...
...but most of the colors never shipped and everything went into backorder status. I quietly took the yarn off the shelf and waited for it to be available again. It is now BACK and I can once again share the gorgeous garment I made with this yarn. I love that it is lightweight but still cozy! Learn more about the yarn HERE and if you like this sweater I made, it is called Dark Water (it is a long sleeve pattern, I just made it short sleeve!) and I used Kathmandu Fingering in Slate Grey and a stash yarn I had....but Variations, Heritage by Cascade, Malabrigo Sock or locally dyed sock weight yarns would all be AWESOME for colorwork. Check out all the designs by Jennifer Steingass in fingering weight yarn....they are all beauties!!!!
In the DK weight category, we already had Light & Long (a wool-free alternative tweed), and now Recycled Tweed has been added to the mix! Recycled Tweed is a completely recycled wool/poly blend, this DK-weight tweed is soft, strong and light. Each skein is 382 yards and is perfectly suited for all your multi-season knitting. Available in a wide variety of neutrals and several jewel tones. You can find this yarn in-store or online HERE
I knit this hat called the Raven Beanie. I found the free pattern on Ravelry.
In the worsted weight category, we have a yarn that has been a staple in the shop, we just added NEW colors for Fall 2022. My favorite is a super light pink! You can see all the available colors in-store or online HERE
Last, but certainly NOT least...is Cassatt. Spun in Italy, Cassatt is a light and lofty blend of baby alpaca, wool, nylon, and viscose. It is constructed with a hollow core and fine fibers blown through for an ethereal halo. The colors are inspired by impressionist paintings. Beautiful speckles and tweedy nubs make this yarn all the more magical. I knit a little cowl with it, just to get a feel for the yarn...but I NEEEEED to make a turtledove sweater with it PRONTO!
We hope you love tweed too!!!
