Stephen West MKAL

Every year Stephen West does a Mystery Knit Along.  This year will be his 12th year!  Past MKALs have resulted in some of the most loved and treasured Westknits shawl patterns  including Exploration Station, The Doodler and Slipstravaganza

We will help you put together 5 skeins if you need any assistance, or stash-dive to put together your colors for the shawl (or bring in what you would like to use, and we can help fill in the blanks!!!)

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an MKAL? MKAL stands for Mystery Knit A Long! Knit Alongs (KALs) are fun, social activity in which a group of knitters all make the same project in a specified timeframe. A Mystery Knit Along adds an extra level of spice, because you won't know what the thing you're knitting is when you start. A section of the pattern (clue) is released each week, and at the end of the Knit Along, the final design is revealed.  The Westknits MKAL is always a shawl design, and always incorporates interesting techniques (shaping, stitch patterns, and other design features), but beyond that, it's a mystery!

When does it start? Clue one is released on 8 October 2021 (A Little Knitty) will host a special daytime and evening cast on party!!!! Stay tuned!

How do I sign up? From September 1st you can purchase the MKAL pattern on Ravelry or Gumroad.com/Westknits There will be lots of fun chat in the Ravelry group, on Instagram, and Stephen will be hosting Instagram Live events throughout the MKAL. A Little Knitty will host a Facebook Group for this knit-a-long as well. You guys can chat and post update pics!!!

How do I get the clues? The clues are released every Friday. If you purchase the pattern through Ravelry, you will receive an email and be able to update your pattern in your Library. If you purchase the pattern through Gumroad you will receive an email when the update is available for download.

How often will I get a clue? There are four clues, released on 8 October, 15 October, 22 October and 29 October. A Little Knitty will host a finale party during the day and in the evening on the 29th!!

What yarn do I need? For this year's pattern, you'll need five skeins in five different colours of fingering weight yarn: 1 skein of each colour or 100g of each colour.

You can check out this video for more information on color choice! We are happy to help you in the shop. Bring the yarns that you already have in your stash, and we will help ya fill in the gaps!! If you purchase at least 4 skeins at A Little Knitty, we will throw in the pattern for FREE!!!!! Just mention it at checkout in person or online!!!

I'm THINKING these will be my colors...I'm letting them sit on the table and every time I walk past them I decide if they are the winners! :)

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
