Spring Fling Virtual Quilting & Knitting Retreat

We love retreats! They are a great way to try new things, meet new friends, relax and unwind. We know a physical retreat is just not in the cards anytime soon, so Big Foot Quilts and A Little Knitty have teamed up to bring you "Spring Fling Virtual Stitching Retreat"

This virtual retreat will take place on March 4th-7th 2021. A private Facebook group will be our meeting place which will allow us to post videos and create rooms to be social. Our classes will include quilting and knitting (participate in as many or as few as you would like), as well as social stitching times and contests.

Not only will you get to enjoy this virtual retreat for 4 days…you will have access to the group for a while after the retreat so you can share, access the classes, and stay connected (until we host the next retreat!)

Join us!

Make new friends...maybe learn a new skill!

Bags are being made by both ALK for those who love to yarn, and BFQ for those who love to fabric...love both? We have you covered! We will combine the bags from both shops so that you aren't getting doubles.

How does it work?

We'll be doing this through a private Facebook Group, so what happens there stays there! Join us in your PJ's...or whatever (we won't tell!)
Both ALK and BFQ will be hosting break out sessions for classes in our respective mediums. Each of us will be offering a "feature" pattern (included in the goodie bags!) and classes related to it. You are welcome to join the classes even if you didn't grab the goodie bag before the retreat. We'll create a "room" within the group so that only those wanting to attend the class session will be "in" the live video chat, while everyone else can still interact on the main group page.
People who have special interests are welcome to create mini rooms to chat as well!
We'll have a happy hour room for those wanting to share a pretty beverage!

Contests, drawings, prizes all weekend!

You aren't required to only knit on our featured pattern...and it's humanly impossible to finish the project within our weekend....please do not attempt!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
