All my life I've been an entrepreneur. I remember the multiple lemonade stands at the end of my driveway with my bestie in 1st grade (we saved our proceeds to purchase a mug for our teacher). In 6th grade I made yellow ribbons to support those fighting in the Persian Gulf War. Just after graduating from high school, I created a pet/house sitter business. I loved creating, growing and having my little businesses...I never made all that much, but I had fun doing it!
I have loved building A Little Knitty from nothing...it's my 3rd child. My passion was found in owning my own business and sharing my love of knitting.
For years it has been my dream to create a yarn shop that is a creative, inspiring, educational and fun space. Sometimes I hit road blocks, other times it just wasn't the right time...
but now...
it's the right time!
Last fall I read the front page of the local newspaper. In all honesty, I don't do this often...but for some reason I checked it out that day. I read about a couple who were creating a great space downtown Auburn, Washington. They had a thriving online business creating gorgeous sewing patterns for dolls and they were expanding to a beautiful loft on Main Street. At the same time I was developing a knitting pattern book for girls and their dolls, so I contacted them to introduce myself and say I was excited to meet someone else who was doing the same thing I was doing (however, they were doing it on a MUCH larger scale). I didn't fully understand the whole scope of their business until we met, and I quickly discovered their vision for a creative space was completely in line with my dream! It was so great to meet like minded people and we made plans for me to create designs and distribute them through their company, Pixie Faire.
In April 2016 I rekindled my desire for a retail space. My little girl would soon be off to Kindergarten and it was time again for me to put my feelers out there and see if the perfect retail spot for me would fall out of the sky. I contacted my friends at Liberty Jane to see if they might know of a space near them, it would be great to be nearby and network. I never thought about it before, but when they suggested we meet and discuss options for me to join their fantastic creative space...I said YES!!!!
I encourage you to check out Liberty Jane on Main to read more about their vision. I think they are fantastic and I'm excited to bring the knitting and yarn crafts to their space. They also do some great charity work that you can read about here...they are just amazing people!
We will announce when our retail pop-up yarn shop has launched...but go ahead and put your email address in the Follow by Email box on the right and you will be the first to know what A Little Knitty is up to! Also, check us out on Social Media and follow #watchALKgrow
Thank you for your support on this amazing journey...I look forward to what the future will bring!
