The Salty Air Tee has been in my favorites on Ravelry for quite some time. It kept getting put on the back burner for some other project. Then I saw a couple people making one on our trip to Salem and I just knew it needed to happen. THEN I found this gorgeous red color from Boss Kitty when we were down in Oregon and I got right to work!!!
I knit up a gauge swatch, picked my size and dove into the pattern. If you know me, you know I don't LOVE knitting lace (I actually have to pay attention to the pattern...booooo!!) but it was the perfect amount of lace with a really nice cadence to it.
After finishing the tee, I popped it on and took this photo. The fit of the sweater wasn't exactly what I wanted and the lace was pretty, but didn't look how it should. After a 15 minute dip in the blocking pool, I took it out of the water and I could tell it was going to be AWESOME!!! I let it dry flat over night and couldn't wait to come in and wear it today!!
Not only did the lace open up after blocking, but the drape of the fabric became exactly what I wanted and the length of the sweater grew quite a bit. I had a feeling both of these things would happen as the gauge swatch gave me that information! :)
If you finish a project and it isn't exactly what you expected, don't sweat it...block it and let the magic happen!!!
