What we did on our winter break!

It feels like FOREVER since we were all together...so I made the team tell me all about what they have been up to while we were on break. It's so fun to see what they have been working on.

HILDE

I tried very hard to finish this gift for Christmas but didn't quite make it, so I finished him during break. He's Tiny the Aviator Squirrel by Gretel Crespo. I used RicorumiDK to make him.

When the squirrel was finished, my focus went back to a sweater I'm making out of Amy Herzog's book The Ultimate Sweater Book. I am knitting the basic cardigan with drop shoulders. I am using Yarnalia yarn in Wonder. I'm nearly done and looking forward to my next project.

SHERRI

I finally finished my Gatekeeper sweater! I'm so glad I chose this project for my first colorwork sweater. The Patagonia wool is actually light and pretty breathable which is a major plus for me! With so many color choices, you can't go wrong!

ELENA

This is the Deadite Ash cross-stitch pattern by StitchyBones on Etsy. It's a character from one of my favorite scary movies and it's made up of 6,879 stitches! As you can see, I've still got a long way to go but I'm really enjoying how it's turning out!

KRIS

During my holiday break, I didn’t have much time to sit and contemplate a complicated pattern so I stuck to an easy ongoing knitting project. Believe it or not I’m working on another “I Quilt Too Lap Blanket”. I absolutely love this pattern and it makes for a calming easy project that’s a no-brainer once you memorize the pattern. I traveled down to California to celebrate Christmas with family and it was easy to pack in my carry-on and pull out and work on. I’m using Rainier Roses mini skeins. Here are some of the squares that I’ve completed.

JEN

I finished a sweater in 12 days!!! And I'm talking a SWEATER...long sleeve and long torso (it's called the Creekside Pullover)!!!! I usually put the body on hold while I knit the sleeves then finish the body with whatever yarn I have left over...but I was SUPER sure that I would have MORE than enough yarn. I was finishing the 2nd sleeve and THIS is how much yarn I had leftover at the end. Like this is the ONLY yarn I have left from 7 skeins!!! I'm weaving in ends and blocking today...so I'll show pics tomorrow!

I also knit on a shawl...which I'll share next week (I'm hoping to be done by then!)

Hope you had a wonderful holiday and we are so excited for 2025!!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap

Copilot Remix

Years ago I found the Copilot Cowl by Dominique Trad on Ravelry  and it had two of my ABSOLUTE favorite things...garter stitch and yarn overs! I cast one on for a trip I was taking and knit it while I was traveling. It was the perfect project to keep my attention, but I didn't need to take the pattern out constantly. After knitting one, I noticed that the length of it was just too long for my liking, I wanted it to be a simple, single-wrap cowl. I reworked it a little bit and it is my go-to when I have a skein of fingering weight yarn (especially if it is a singly-ply!!) Copilot Remix Materials:     1 skein 100g/440 fingering weight yarn (if your skein is a little more or a little less, no problem, I put in weights so you can use up all your yarn and not play yarn chicken!)                      US6/4mm 24" circular knitting needles                      Stitch...
