If you have fallen in love with the blue cardigan sample we have in the shop (If you know, you know) you will want to take this amazing class with Vanessa Smith (the designer of that cardigan!!!) You can use this awesome hat as your gauge swatch for the pullover sweater too!!

In this two-part class, Vanessa Smith will walk you through making her Nydia Hat pattern, which offers instructions for two views and six sizes ranging from baby to adult. You’ll learn how to make a lateral braid in the round and how to do the textured lace stitch featured in several of Vanessa’s patterns (it’s her favorite stitch!). If you’ve never used charts before, this class will also provide a great opportunity to get comfortable with them—and with reading your knitting! Finally, we’ll cover using double-pointed needles or magic loop while working the crown.

Before the first session, cast on for your selected view/size and work the brim ribbing with DK weight yarn and US 4 (3.5 mm) needles. We recommend making an adult size to maximize class time, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you could make both pattern versions during the span of the class! The pattern includes video links for the suggested German twisted cast on and invisible method for joining in the round.

We’ll begin with the lateral braid and start the main stitch pattern on class day one! Bring empty US 6 (4 mm) needles, 8 additional stitch markers that are distinguishable from your beginning of round marker, and a 3.25 mm (or slightly smaller) crochet hook. After this session, Vanessa will remain available through a dedicated forum on her Discord server to ensure your success and answer any questions you may have until we reconvene two weeks later to work the crown shaping on class day two. Come to the second session with small scissors, a tapestry needle, and US 6 (4 mm) double-pointed needles or 32” circular needle.

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap

Copilot Remix

Years ago I found the Copilot Cowl by Dominique Trad on Ravelry  and it had two of my ABSOLUTE favorite things...garter stitch and yarn overs! I cast one on for a trip I was taking and knit it while I was traveling. It was the perfect project to keep my attention, but I didn't need to take the pattern out constantly. After knitting one, I noticed that the length of it was just too long for my liking, I wanted it to be a simple, single-wrap cowl. I reworked it a little bit and it is my go-to when I have a skein of fingering weight yarn (especially if it is a singly-ply!!) Copilot Remix Materials:     1 skein 100g/440 fingering weight yarn (if your skein is a little more or a little less, no problem, I put in weights so you can use up all your yarn and not play yarn chicken!)                      US6/4mm 24" circular knitting needles                      Stitch...
