Happy New year, Everyone!

I am rather surprised how quickly the new year is speeding along - I remember last January felt like it took forever to get through, but not so this year! I haven’t even wished you all a happy new year yet!

What do I have on my needles currently? (Granted, I’ve got a lot of needles with projects on them, but we’ll ignore that for the moment. Anyone else have to buy needles because the ones you need are on other projects?)

I am super excited about Morning Walks by Yellowcosmo - it sells for $6.50 on Ravelry. I have really wanted to try a sweater with a hood, and this hood is just so pretty!

I saw someone else’s project notes where she used the Figure 8 cast on (typically used for toe-up socks) for the hood so she didn’t have to sew the seam for it later. I have opted to do the same and it has worked out so well. I’m using Malabrigo Rios in the colorway Cereza, a beautiful rich, deep red.

I’m part of a Ravelry knitting group that encouraged us to try new techniques this month, so I opted to try Tunisian crochet. It’s a lot of fun, and I’m finding it quite calming.

One of the patterns someone else in the group tried are these sweet hearts that are perfect for Valentine’s day. They’re called Tunisian Crochet Heart by Joy Clements and sells for about $2.95 on Ravelry. A fun way to learn this style of crochet with a cute heart to show for it! I would use Ricorumi DK yarn for this.

Speaking of Valentine’s day naturally makes me think of my husband, and it reminds me I have to update you on what my husband surprised me with on Christmas after he learned to crochet. (Talk about love!) If you remember, he wanted me to teach him and I needed to sit with him to help him along the way. Imagine my surprise when I opened this gift at Christmas to find this adorable little dragon he made for me all on his own.

(I have to admit, when I first saw it, I thought someone else made it!) The dragon pattern is Koji the baby dragon by Mariska Vos-Bolman and is $5.50 on Ravelry. It would make a really cute Valentine gift for someone. Hubby used Ricorumi DK yarn for this cutie. I’m very proud of my husband. And the good news is, now I know he doesn’t need my help anymore! Ha ha!!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap

This eliminates the purl stitches looking a little funky (if you know, you know).  We decreased by 25% of the stitches about halfway through the cowl to allow the top of the cowl to be a little closer to the neck and the bottom spread over your shoulders if you want to wear it that way! We gave you little check boxes to check off as you complete repeats. **PATTERN** Using Main Color, CO92, place stitch marker and join in the round Round 1: (K2, P2) Repeat parentheses all the way around Repeat Round 1 six more times       ⃞          ⃞...
