Spring Break Series April 2024

It's no secret that I LOVE teaching people how to knit/crochet/craft...but I especially LOVE teaching young people how to do it! I have found that kids take to crafts in a totally different way than adults do! Adults are a little more timid and careful to not make a mistake...kids run at whatever craft it is at FULL FORCE and throw complete caution to the wind. It's usually a little crazy...and I LOVE it!!!

During the week of April 9th to 12th we will offer a different class each day at 2pm (it happens to be Auburn School District's SPRING BREAK!!!). Take one, or take them all!

Loom Pot Holders - $40 - 2 Hours - Instructor: Jen Reeves

Tuesday, April 9th 2pm to 4pm

Making pot holders with these looms has been popular for decades…time to get the younger generations hooked too!

In this class we will learn how to make pot holders with loops. The kids will get to play with colors, learn to weave them in and out and how to finish.

Class includes:

  • Loom set with enough loops to make 2 potholders

  • Two hours instruction

  •  Instructional booklet

This class is structured for children age 6 and older. If younger children want to attend, an adult will need to work with the child. We have space for parents to hang out as well!

Loom Knit Hat - $45 - 2 Hours - Instructor: Jen Reeves

Wednesday, April 10th 2pm to 4pm

Are the kids home for Spring Break and need to get out of the house for a bit? We have a fun craft that will get their creativity flowing!

Loom Knitting is the perfect introduction to playing with yarn and isn't as over-whelming as traditional "two stick knitting". In this class we will learn how to start a loom knit hat and students will go home with the loom and yarn! Loom hats make great gifts and great for charitable donations to foodbanks and homeless shelters. It's a great activity for engaging creativity, fine motor skills and it's really fun to wear something you made with your own hands!

Class includes:

-2 hours instruction

-Loom Set

-1 skein yarn (additional skeins can be purchased for $7 each)

-Pattern

This class is structured for children age 6 and older. If younger children want to attend, an adult will need to work with the child. We have space for parents to hang out as well!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
