The secret life of pom poms

Pom poms not only come in lots of different sizes, but they come with different ways to attach them!

#1. DIY pompom

For this pom pom you will need a pom pom maker and some yarn (we used leftovers from knitting this blue hat). After you make the pom pom, make sure you have 2 long tails that you can use to thread through a button on the inside of the hat and tie.

Below you will see we threaded the two long tails through the large button and we will tie a bow. This means that the button is not sewn into the hat, but just tied around it to add stability to your pom pom.

This means your pom pom is completely removable if you want to change your pom pom or wash the hat. You can purchase this pom pom maker on our website HERE

#2. Faux Fur Pom with small elastic loop

For this type of pom pom we sew a button into the inside of the hat when we weave in the ends. Then put a crochet hook up through the top of the hat, grab the elastic loop and pull it to the inside of the hat and secure it around the button.

This makes it where the pom pom has more stability but you can change out the pom. The button will stay in the hat whether you have a pom pom attached or not.

These smaller pom poms are only sold in-store. There are SO many different colors and they are a pain to list in our online store! :)

#3 Snap pom pom

Ok, first of all, this one is probably the easiest....you just sew the snap onto the top of the hat and attach the pom. However, I sewed the snap on wrong...so don't be like me!!!! I would usually attach the Snap with the yarn when I weave in my ends...but this yarn was just too thick, so I found some thinner yarn and it worked great!

You can find these pom poms in-store or online HERE

This way is WRONG (see below)

This way is correct!!! (See below)

We hope this helps reveal the secret life of pom poms! :)

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind!
