Kris' Corner - Pumpkins Galore

October is in full swing and all I can think about is pumpkins.

I love them in all forms….seeing them on people’s porches, in pumpkin patches, drinking them in lattes or eating them in pies, cakes or muffins....and of course I love making them.

Pumpkins are a very satisfying knitting or crochet project because they come together quickly and look
so good when they are completed. I have a few favorite patterns I’m going to share with you but first
my all time favorite is “Jumbo Pumpkin” by A Little Knitty.

It calls for bulky Rasta yarn by Malabrigo which comes in rich beautiful colors and is so soft. It turns these pumpkins into a definite eye catcher. I love the look of the seams down the sides and the cinnamon stick stem on the top. If you haven’t made this one and want a fun get together, sign up for Jen’s class, “Pumpkin Together” on October 20 and make it. This is a beginner class and she is supplying all you need! Yes, the yarn, pattern, stuffing and
cinnamon stick are all included!!! All you have to bring are US15-24” circular knitting needles, scissors
and a tapestry needle. I guarantee you will come away wanting to make more for yourself and for
friends.

Another pattern I like is, “Gourdgeous Knit Pumpkins” by Adrienne Sullivan which is available on Ravelry. I like the way she mixes up knits and purls for the texture and the cute stem for the top.

If you are interested in making some small pumpkins check out “Jack Be Little Pumpkin”. The pattern is by Elizabeth Murphy and is on Ravelry. This pumpkin was written for Ricorumi DK which we have in stock!! We even have it in glitter....so that pumpkin can shine!

She also has a super cute acorn pattern called “Acorn Ornament”. If you make both patterns you could end up with a whole selection of Fall bounty. Fill a basket to display in your house or gift a friend. How sweet to receive a little homemade “Fall Goodie”! This ornament would knit up perfectly with Deluxe Worsted or dig through that stash and look for some Fall colored yarns peaking through. Like me, I’m sure you have some.

Happy Pumpkin knitting and crocheting!!!!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap

This eliminates the purl stitches looking a little funky (if you know, you know).  We decreased by 25% of the stitches about halfway through the cowl to allow the top of the cowl to be a little closer to the neck and the bottom spread over your shoulders if you want to wear it that way! We gave you little check boxes to check off as you complete repeats. **PATTERN** Using Main Color, CO92, place stitch marker and join in the round Round 1: (K2, P2) Repeat parentheses all the way around Repeat Round 1 six more times       ⃞          ⃞...
