Dia Duit From Ireland By the time you read this article, I will be on another adventure with my husband. This time we are in Ireland celebrating the addition of a new daughter-in-law. Our oldest son and his new bride will be joining us from their home in Santiago, Chile! In case you are wondering, “Dia Duit” is Irish for “Hello” or “Good Day”. Since I’m in this beautiful country, full of lots of sheep and great fiber, I think it’s only appropriate for me to write about some Irish-themed patterns. The first one is “Donegal Cabled Kate Hat” by Edel Machride . I loved it so much I’m actually knitting it on the trip! It has two plaited cables bordered with a seed stitch that the Irish call “moss” stitch. It is worked lengthwise and then sewn together.
