Hilde's Corner - Summer Fun

Hello Everyone! It’s been a busy time for all of us in the shop, but we are so excited about our new location and new space. It’s so fun to see old faces and meet new ones. I haven’t had much time to look up patterns so it was fun to write this Corner again, and see what new things I could find.

I was going to write this as wearables for summer and started looking up light cardigans for those chilly evenings. I found this lacey cardigan worked in a light fingering yarn called Hope Cardigan by Anne Hanssen, selling for about $6.20 on Ravelry. The pattern suggests Malabrigo Sock yarn (which we have in the shop!) but it also says it can be worked in a cotton yarn. We have Huasco Coton Kettle Dyes that would work great for this. I think this cardigan would be perfect for summer!

I was not able to write this Corner all about summer wearables - I got too distracted by other fun patterns!

How many of you have been bitten by the stuffed chicken bug? How cute is this pattern for some little chickens? Granny Square Chicken by Sweet Softies - it sells for $3.99 on Ravelry. They are crocheted granny squares that are sewn into the shape of a chicken!! You can use leftovers to make these cute little guys. Worsted weight is the suggested yarn, so Uptown Worsted or Cotton Supreme would be great for these little peeps if you needed new yarn. You could make a whole family of chickens!

And then I found this crocheted child’s blanket - I just love it! It screams summer and is even called Summer Dreams Childrens Blanket by Susanne Anacker. (I don’t think you need to be a child to have one, do you? ‘Cause I seriously want one…) It sells for about $7.30 on Ravelry. I mean - how cute are those sheep?? I just love that the sheep have sunglasses on. And the bright colors!! This designer has a few other blanket patterns in her Dreams collection, and all are sweet, all have sheep! Gotta love that, right? It calls for a DK weight yarn, so I think Jody Long’s Ciao would work great for this - this yarn comes in beautiful bright colors, and it’s superwash!

Happy Summer, Everyone! Enjoy that beautiful weather.

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
