Kris' Corner - Longing For Spring

I’m actually seeing some tiny green sprouts in my yard and it makes me long for Spring. With the dark dreary rainy February days, we all could use a little color.

Jen has brought in some beautiful new bright palettes of yarn including Maribel’s / Rainier Roses' Good Vibes Only...

and a gorgeous bright green yarn by Apple Fiber Studio called New Growth. I’m not even a green lover but this one is an eye-catcher reminding me of bright green grass in a garden. If I had my way, my yard would be a garden full of tulips, which happens to be my favorite flower. As I dream about Spring and tulips I did a search on Ravelry for some knitting inspiration to carry me through the last weeks of Winter. Here’s what I found:

First off is, “Big Tulips Beanie” by Kasia Ancuta. The bright Spring colors caught my eye and I love that it’s a quick knit in bulky yarn.

Another sweet hat is, “Tulip Fields” by Willow Dawn done in fingering weight yarn. The muted colorwork is intricate and beautiful. This hat would be just awesome in Heritage as your main color and Perth as the contrast!

One more hat is, “Beret Tulips” by Southknitwear by ALC. Aren’t these two girls adorable in their tulip berets? The lace work tulips sweeten up this hat along with the lavendar and light turquoise color choices. Jody Long Ciao has some great colors and would be a great weight for this hat!

For all of you sock lovers, the “Tulips In The Desert” by Arella Seaton is a great one. The true desert colors call out Arizona sunsets and the tulip on the heel of the sock is a great touch.

Another sock pattern is, “Tiptoe Through The Tulips” by Stone Knits. These socks will make you feel like you are walking through a field of tulips on a warm Spring afternoon. The green grass background makes the tulips pop.

Lastly, there is a fun crocheted coffee cozy called, “Tulip Coffee Cozy” by Brooke Rabideau. This one would be great with our Coastal Cotton! I particularly want to make this one so I’m reminded each time I take a sip of my coffee that Spring is just around the corner. So hang on!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
