New Yarn - Mirasol Huni

Peru's heritage and culture of textile artistry is one of the richest in the world. Without the shepherds tending their animals in the Peruvian Highlands, we would not have this beautiful, luxurious yarn. By purchasing Mirasol products, you are supporting the children of these shepherds and the continuation of this ancient tradition. A portion of every purchase is dedicated directly to funding of a school in the remote area of Munani in the region of Puno. To find out more, please visit: www.mirasolperu.com MIRASOL MEDIUM Huñi 100 %   Peruvian Highland Wool Available as   100  gram x  219  yard skeins You can purchase this yarn in-store or online:  https://www.alittleknitty.com/shop/Yarn/Worsted-Weight-Yarn/p/Mirasol-Huni-x52736240.htm There are quite a few patterns on Ravelry that have been knit up in this yarn...but we really dig this hat: It's a free pattern on Ravelry:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/february-hat-3

New Yarn - Kathmandu Aran 100

When the yarn rep handed me this yarn...I KNEW it needed to be a Weekender by Andrea Mowry I ordered just enough to make myself a sweater and determine if it was a good one to bring into the shop. Now I LIVE in this sweater! It's a cozy and sweatshirt like, but looks put together with a tanktop and jeans! I did size 6, but I have a tight gauge and got the measurements of a size 5. I used 6 skeins to make this beauty! You can purchase your yarn in-store or online:  https://www.alittleknitty.com/shop/Yarn/Worsted-Weight-Yarn/p/Kathmandu-Aran-100-x53077317.htm Jen

Just For You IOU Form

We are getting to that part of the Holiday season where we need to have an honest chat about that gift list that you made earlier in the year.  When you told yourself "Self, I have all this time on my hands...I will make EVERYONE I KNOW a hat this year!!!!" At this point, the only way that list will be finished will be if little elves break into your house and finish them for you! Since the chances of that happening are slim...we made this gift tag for you! You can download a printable .pdf file here

Major Yarn

A couple years ago I stumbled upon the pattern Inseparable by Tamy Gore on Ravelry and it was totally my style. A little over-sized and it consisted of garter stitch, eyelets and twisted rib (be still my heart!)  I decided to knit it up using Major by Universal Yarns. This is a 100% acrylic, bulky yarn that is marled and has really cool colorchanges. The color variation in this green color was exactly what I was looking for. Since I knew the acrylic wouldn't block (and because I'm a tight knitter) I automatically went up a needle size, which means I knit this bad boy on size 15 needles. Size US15 needles and bulky yarn is FAST!!!!  This year I promised myself I wouldn't put all my Christmas gifts off til the last minute...but here I am on the weekend of December 5th, knitting my fingers off and pumping out 5 of these bad boys!! I guess it could be worse...it could be December 23rd! ;) If you are looking for a simple and fast knit, look no further!! I omitted the two bobble ...

Winter Stitching Magic Virtual Retreat

We love retreats! They are a great way to try new things, meet new friends,  relax  and unwind. We know a physical retreat is just not in the cards anytime soon, so Big Foot Quilts and A Little  Knitty  have teamed up to bring you " Winter Stitch Magic "   This virtual retreat will take place on  January 14 th -17 th  2021.   A private  Facebook  group will be our meeting place which will allow us to post videos and create rooms to be social. Our classes will  include quilting and knitting (participate in as many or as few as you would like),  as well as  social stitching times, contests, and meal times ....yes ....meal times!   Not only will you get to enjoy this virtual retreat for 4 days…you will have access to the group for a while after the retreat so you can share, access the  classes,  and stay connected (until we host the next retreat!)   Join us!  Make new friends...maybe learn a new skill...

I Quilt Too Pattern

My "I Quilt Too" is now available on Ravelry! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/i-quilt-too This is one of those projects that will take awhile...but it was so fun to make the individual blocks on the go or when I was in the early stages of being a Learning Coach for Piper during online school sessions (I knit so I won't blow a gasket...in theory). If you have many 20g bits of fingering weight laying around....or if you purchased an advent calendar and you aren't sure what to do with all those minis...this is a great pattern. There are 12 large blocks...so if you do one small square every week, at the end of the year you will have the blanket done!!! Piecing together did take me a few days! Enjoy!! Jen

Santa Cruz Yarn - Antler Toque

This weekend I knit up the Antler Toque by Tin Can Knits with a skein of Santa Cruz  Although it might look a little complex, it's a VERY easily memorizable 6 round repeat!! I went a little long with the brim and was getting dangerously close to running out of yarn! Don't go too crazy with your brim and you can easily get 1 hat out of one ball of Santa Cruz! This yarn made a thick and cozy fabric that would be perfect for someone who spends time outdoors this time of year!

Indoor Snowball Fight

Last year I created these indoor snowball kits and they were such a hit that I brought them back again!!! They are $15 each and include the fluffy yarn, stuffing and 2 patterns (1 knit, 1 crochet) in a paper bag (the first 2 orders will get theirs in a clear A Little Knitty bag!) You will be able to get 4 knit snowballs out of this kit.  My kids LOVE throwing them at each other!  Get your kit here:  https://www.alittleknitty.com/shop/c/p/Indoor-Snowball-Fight-Kit-x44969409.htm Jen
