August Yarn of the Month

Araucania Unan Hand Painted Dimensions Length: 219 Yards; Yarn weight: 4 Worsted & Aran Materials Primary fiber: Cotton Secondary fiber: Alpaca Description 50% Tanguis Cotton; 50 % Alpaca. 219yds. Needle Size U.S. 7-9; Crochet Hook Size I9-K10.5. This blended yarn is a wonderfully soft combination of cotton and alpaca. An excellent choice for an heirloom baby blanket!! The uniform long staple Tangis cotton outstands for its whiteness, strength and softness. This one of a kind cotton is highly absorbent and can retain 24 to 27 times its own weight. Clothes made from Tangüis cotton are breathable as it rapidly absorbs and releases perspiration. Alpaca fiber is naturally water resistant and water repellant. It wicks water away and absorbs very little. It's the softest part of an adult Alpaca (usually the chest), not the age of the animal. Alpaca fleece is soft and silky. It is lighter in weight and up to 7x warmer than Sheep's wool ...

If you place your order online, just put a note that you would like the Jasmine Baby Shirt at checkout! Next, we have Melinda with a beautiful capelet knit up in one ball of Bamboo Bloom!! This is a great giftable project! You can find the pattern for free on Ravelry ! It was so fun to discover what our customers have designed with the yarns we carry!!!! Keep on creating, ladies!!! New Consignor - Micki Wells Creations

Since March I haven't really been on the hunt for new consignors. For months we were closed to foot traffic and since we have been open again the traffic has been pretty slow. But when a really cool maker finds you...it is SOOOO exciting and just what I needed to jazz up the Made in the PNW section of the shop!! Micki's laser cuts the most adorable decor items. And when she showed me the little basket bottom...I think I jumped up and down!!!!! Today I sat down to give it a shot, and it was so fun to crochet a quick little basket. No pattern, just single crochet and do anything you want! I already ordered more raffia and basket bottoms...they will be arriving soon! Check out her super cute cubbies next time you are in the shop!!

Amanecer - Knitting Pattern Found on Ravelry

Highly variegated yarns need a pattern that will just let them be the wild and crazy yarns they were meant to be!  This fun pattern called Amanecer is available on Ravelry (It's listed for $12 but she has a stair step payment model that allows you to get it for $6 or $9...pay what you like!)  This is a top-down winged triangular shawl, and a one-skein wonder, so you will work it out pretty fast! The first and last 2 sts create a garter stitch edge, set off by YOs at each end. The lace motifs are placed symmetrically around an elongated central knit stitch, which is emphasized by paired increases. YO increases are placed at each end on both wrong and right sides, after the garter stitch edging. You can get this yarn in our shop....it's Malabrigo Sock in the colorway Diana!! Jen

New Consignor - Angel our resident crochet prodigy

Years ago, when the shop was SUPER tiny, Angel started coming for private knitting lessons. I believe he was 8 or 9 at the time. He wanted to learn to knit, but his mom didn't know where to turn...so she looked me up and we began weekly lessons. He was a natural knitter, but soon became curious about crochet. I taught him what I knew...but he outgrew my abilities VERY quickly! He started taking classes with Sandy, and he completely fell in love with crochet. He has been at it for a while now, and recently asked if he could consign some items...and today they arrived! Large Octi - $25 Small Octi - $10 Scrunchies - $5 Available in-store only Update! 7/22/2020 Whales have been added!! Jen

Face masks

A HUGE thank you to our bag maker, Jo, who has been working her tail off to make awesome face masks that we have been selling in the shop. Jo has donated her time and materials to allow us to donate $8 from every mask sold to two local food banks!! This has been so wonderful to give back to our communities. You can purchase these masks in the shop! (Some of the colors have already sold out!!) We have kid sizes too!! Jen

Just Breathe - Crochet Pattern

This isn't the first time our lovely Color Maven, Susan has crochet this shop sample for us! The last time she made it, the yarn was discontinued. But the pattern is just SO awesome for one skein of fingering weight yarn....I asked her to make another one. I could tell by her reaction, that it was a good pattern...because she was so willing to! This pattern is great with a single ply or 4-ply fingering weight yarn. We suggest locally dyed yarn like Rainier Roses , Teal Torch Knits , our Private Labe l, Juniper Moon Herriot Fine , Malabrigo Sock or Malabrigo Mechita . $3.50 Pattern on Ravelry Pattern Link Here:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/just-breathe-2 Jen

Sun Drop - Quick Knit - 1 skein wonder

Sun Drop is the perfect quick knit for gifting this winter... WAIT A MINUTE....WE HAVEN'T EVEN QUARANTINED THROUGH SUMMER YET!!!! Ya, I know...it feels so weird to even talk about winter...but it will come...and those who knit and crochet now will be prepared for the Holidays or be very cozy and warm. I think that's a win-win! So, as I was saying...these shawls are fast and fun....and they only take 1 ball of yarn (you hold the yarn double to make it thicker) and you just need a US15 knitting needle (see, told ya this was going to be fast!) We knit up this sample using Drifter, which is a cotton, wool, acrylic yarn that is the perfect amount of each. Enough cotton to make it lofty and breathable, enough wool to give it a little character and acrylic to keep the other two in check and be bouncy and washable! Oh, Drifter...you might be our favorite (don't tell the others!!!)  You can find the pattern on Ravelry for $5.50 (the designer is a friend of ...

New Yarn - Cumulus

Cumulus is the PERFECT name for this yarn because it's seriously like touching a cloud. This week, I encouraged customers to pet this yarn (everyone is hesitant...like, can I REALLY touch it???) and every single person gasped "WHAT IS THAT????" It's so soft, I'm positive it's made of angels...but it is cotton and nylon in the most lofty chainette ply that ever lived! Right now, we only have a few colors...but more colors will be arriving shortly!! You can get this yarn in shop, or online ! And here is some lovely pattern ideas for this fantastic yarn!!  https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/juniper-moon-farm-cumulus/projects The small baby blanket above is:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/newborn-baby-blanket Fiber Content:   94% Cotton/ 6% Nylon Weight:   Worsted Gauge:   4-5 sts = 1 on US 7-9 Weight/Yardage:   100g/251yds Care:   Hand Wash, Dry Flat Country Of Origin:   Italy Jen

Zooey - Yarn of the Month

I haven't done a great job of chatting about the yarn of the month for July!!  Zooey by Juniper Moon Farm is a 60% Cotton and 40% Linen yarn that might not be the softest yarn out there (let's be honest...linen just isn't the loveable, super-soft, squishy sweetheart of the yarn world) BUUUUT it creates the most beautiful, light fabric that softens after a good soak and some wear. It's breathable and comfortable to wear all summer long and makes the BEST summer wraps and tops!!  Last summer I knit up the Cancun Boxy (free pattern on Ravelry - takes 2 balls of yarn - this green is Broccolini) and it has become a staple in my wardrobe! A customer finished hers this week and I LOVE it in green (and she is TOTALLY smiling under that mask...you just can't see it!) I feel like I might need one in every color!! This morning our lovely employee, Hilde (who got to work in the shop ONE day before we got shut down for Covid...I can't wait to have her back...
