Hilde's Corner - Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays! Gift giving season is upon us, and if you’re like me, you’ve put off making gifts and now need something quick to make! I’ve found a few cute holiday themed patterns that could save the day.

First is Holiday Doodle Cup Cozy by Jamie Lomax. This little pattern sells for $2 on Ravelry, and utilizes her Doodle deck charts to create cute cup cozies for those cozy, warm drinks. She uses DK weight yarn, and these would be perfect for any leftover yarn you may have (maybe you already have made a few gifts and want to use up those leftovers!)

I think this is a sweet charm and can be hung on a backpack or a purse, or a doorknob, or the tree. It’s Rudolph Charm by Sari Nordlund and sells for about $5.40 on Ravelry. Fingering weight yarn was used to make this cute ornament. I think using Rainier Roses mini’s would be perfect for this.

As I grew up in Minnesota, I miss my snowy winters, so when I saw this ornament bauble, it made me think of quiet, snowy nights. It’s called Snowball by Baiba JautaiÄ·e. It sells for about $1.85 on Ravelry and utilizes a little embroidery to finish it off.

If I had all my gift knitting done, and could knit for myself during the holiday season, I think I’d treat myself to a pair of holiday socks. There are a lot of cute patterns out there to choose from. This one sounds delicious: Cup of Hot Cocoa Socks by Stone Knits selling for about $5.95 on Ravelry. Those mugs of hot cocoa at the top of the socks are so adorable!!! The whipped cream at the top looks so yummy! Again, I’d use Rainier Roses mini’s to create these fun socks! Maybe Cascade Heritage for the main color. (Note to self: get an early start on gift knitting next year to allow time to knit fun holiday socks for yourself!)

I wish everyone very happy holidays and may all your crafty gifts get finished on time!! Hopefully with enough time leftover to create something just for you, too.

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap

This eliminates the purl stitches looking a little funky (if you know, you know).  We decreased by 25% of the stitches about halfway through the cowl to allow the top of the cowl to be a little closer to the neck and the bottom spread over your shoulders if you want to wear it that way! We gave you little check boxes to check off as you complete repeats. **PATTERN** Using Main Color, CO92, place stitch marker and join in the round Round 1: (K2, P2) Repeat parentheses all the way around Repeat Round 1 six more times       ⃞          ⃞...
