Kris' Corner - Spring Has Sprung

May is here and our crazy weather continues to be a combo pack of sunny warm days and cold rainy ones. I find myself wearing a jacket and then shedding it moments later because I am warm. My body can’t decide if its cold or hot and I’m struggling to get comfortable. This same back and forth is going on in my knitting world as well. I just finished a winter cowl yet I’m working on a linen short sleeve sweater for Summer. Continuing on this smorgasboard theme here are a variety of patterns that have recently caught my eye.

Lullaby Rain Shawl by Paula Emons-Fueslle is so pretty with its intricate pattern that reminds me of raindrops. With its top down shoulder hugging features It is perfect for those cool days or evenings over tshirt or dress. I love the romantic feminine look of this shawl. It is available on Ravelry. A great yarn for this would be Noro Sonata

Another one that I love is Seaside Tee by Cheryl Mokhtari. It is also available on Ravelry. Talk about comfy! This one fits the bill. Its relaxed loose fit is perfect over jeans. I love stripes and there are so many colors you could put together, even multiple colors would be fun. Some yarn suggestions are Alpamayo or Cumulus

For you crocheters here is a darling baby blanket. I’m always a sucker for baby blanket patterns and I adore this one with the fun colors and texture. It’s called, Snuggle Bean Blanket by Little Duck Crochet. Its available on Ravelry. A simple design but so cute for baby. Yarn recommendations include

Last is one that’s going to make you laugh!!! Another crochet pattern but is even more fun than the baby blanket. Wait for it……”Sprinkles The Ice Cream Narwhal”! What!!!??? This pattern is by Lorna Galtimore on Ravelry and I think it is the perfect Spring/Summer project. Who doesn’t like ice cream and narwhals!! I particularly like the sprinkles. Yarn suggestions include Uptown Worsted or Cotton Supreme

That’s it for now. I told you it would be a variety, like the weather. Hope you find your favorite “comfy” project.

Yarny Resolution Update: I’m continuing to Stash bust, mostly with giveaways of yarns I’ve finally admitted I won’t ever use. I finally finished the winter cowl I had started last Fall.

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap

Copilot Remix

Years ago I found the Copilot Cowl by Dominique Trad on Ravelry  and it had two of my ABSOLUTE favorite things...garter stitch and yarn overs! I cast one on for a trip I was taking and knit it while I was traveling. It was the perfect project to keep my attention, but I didn't need to take the pattern out constantly. After knitting one, I noticed that the length of it was just too long for my liking, I wanted it to be a simple, single-wrap cowl. I reworked it a little bit and it is my go-to when I have a skein of fingering weight yarn (especially if it is a singly-ply!!) Copilot Remix Materials:     1 skein 100g/440 fingering weight yarn (if your skein is a little more or a little less, no problem, I put in weights so you can use up all your yarn and not play yarn chicken!)                      US6/4mm 24" circular knitting needles                      Stitch...
