Kris' Corner - Quick Little Knits

My niece just had a baby and I am so excited about it! I’m almost as excited as I get when Jen has new yarn arrive in the shop. New colors, new fiber combinations, new “squish” feel…ahhhhh!

My latest love is Honey by Ella Rae. Its an easy-care soft vegan yarn that is 100% acrylic. This is an absolute perfect baby clothes/blanket yarn. I’m especially excited that she ordered a variety of colors, 16 that is!! So you can go pastels or brights or any combination you want. Here are a few patterns I’m looking at for the new baby boy and his big 5 year old sister. I think I will make them both a sweater.

First up is “Isla” by Ursula McGrath available on Ravelry. This pattern features Honey yarn and is a super cute colorful striped pullover. Maia, my niece’s daughter, loves bright colors and the soft yarn will feel good!

Another pattern that features Honey is “Demi”, also by Ursula McGrath. It has a crew neck and solid front and back with striped sleeves. Another sweet knit for little girls. This one is also available on Ravelry.

For the sweet baby Beau I’m going to knit Little Stripes by Florence Merlin. This is such a cute baby sweater. I’m using Honey yarn in Lapis and Nougat for the stripes. This will knit up quickly. I can’t wait to get a pic of him wearing it!

Honey would also be a great choice for a baby blanket. The price point is very affordable ($7 per ball) and it is washable and dryable….a new mothers dream!

So grab some “Honey” and make a quick little sweet something for that new baby!

P.S. In case you are wondering…I’m not just putting new projects on my needles. I’m also on track with my New Years yarny resolution that I mentioned in my last article! I pulled out 1 WIP and frogged it. I loved the yarn but wasn’t enchanted with the pattern. I pulled out a second WIP and am just finishing up the socks. I will continue to try and clear out the WIP’s and stash a bit…stay tuned.

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
