Stephen West MKAL starts October 6th

Last year I participated in the Stephen West MKAL for the first time as I had lost my knitting mojo and needed something to fix it...and boy did that crazy shawl cure me!!!

MKALs aren't for everyone. You don't know exactly what you are making (other than we know it's a shawl) but it's honestly not about the finished object. It's about letting go of some control, learning lots of new things, pushing yourself outside your comfort zone and working through the bumpy bits! I highly recommend the crazy ride.

So, what is a MKAL? You can read all about it HERE

To join it's pretty easy...
#1. Purchase the pattern on Ravelry (you can purchase yourself or you can purchase through the shop) each Thursday during the month of October you will receive another portion of the pattern!
#2. Get 5 skeins of yarn (2 skeins of the main color, 2 skeins of the contrast color and 1 skein of your color pop) Dive into your stash and see what you have, we can help ya fill in any holes
#3. US4-40" circular, cable hook and all those essential notions like scissors and such.
#4. Join our MKAL FB group, whether you knit it right now, or want to see what it is like before you cast on, you are welcome to join the group!
#5. Join us at Thursday evening Sit-n-Stitch where a few of us are participating in the MKAL

I put together some color ideas and linked them below each photo. These aren't pre-set kits (to make a kit in the system is a huuuuuge pain in the booty and this way you don't have to buy all of the skeins if you already have something like the color pairing in your stash!!) Feel free to come in to see the skeins in person, or grab them in our online store and do an in-store pick up or have them shipped to you!

Ok....on with the pairings....

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
