Join us as we knit a sweater together!

This time we will be doing the Felix Cardigan https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/felix-cardigan

This 4 session get together is structured to help you along and answer any questions as they come up, but it is not a class in the sense that everyone is doing the exact same thing at the same time or there is a structured syllabus. It's a fun social atmosphere, with the first meeting discussing the fit of the sweater. You will need a knit swatch before the first meeting. Swatch instructions will be emailed 2 weeks before the 1st meeting.

Pre-req: Must know how to knit in the round, purl, increase, decrease, cast on and bind off.

The first meeting is MANDATORY, as we will discuss fit and gauge, after that all meetings are up to you and there are no make-up sessions available. Remember, this is more social/accountability than it is instructional! You are always welcome to ask questions between classes via email or popping into the shop, but a 2-hour make-up session for a missed session is not possible.

Price includes pattern!!

For yarn, I recommend using Deluxe Worsted SuperwashKatmandu Aran, Santa CruzCantata, or Madara This pattern calls for a worsted weight/light aran. There aren't as many size options, so we can't play as much with gauge like we could with past sweaters that had SO many sizes. The pattern is written for a cropped length, but you can make it as long as you would like. Take that into account when ordering yarn (necessary yardage is noted below)

You can purchase this yarn in the shop. If you are looking for a color we don't currently have in stock, let us know and we will get it special ordered immediately!!

More information about this sweater....

A cropped top down raglan cardigan with an eyelet motif incorporated into the raglan increases. This was designed to be the perfect sweater to wear layered over tunics and dresses, I like it with waisted pants as well. I suggest putting all the stitches on waste yarn and trying the sweater on before you begin the ribbing to be sure you have a length you will like and will enjoy wearing.

This is a very easy and very quick knit with worsted/light aran weight yarn worked at a relaxed open gauge. The mohair blend yarn drapes beautifully and will bloom when washed filling in the fabric of the airy gauge.

The cardigan version is written to be worked back and forth in rows, the neck is shaped with short rows, the body and sleeves are divided after the yoke shaping. The body is worked back and forth in rows, the sleeves are worked in the round. The body of the cardigan is 1” longer than that of the Felix Pullover - please note the body can be made any length but plan to purchase more yarn.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

39 (43 ½, 48, 52 ½, 57)” around chest at underarm
22 (24, 25, 27, 28)” from right front cast on to right neck edge.
Shown in size 43 1/3, worn with 7” of positive ease.

Selecting the correct amount of ease is a very personal, please choose a size based on your own preferences, a range between 2 to 10” of ease is suggested for this garment.

If choosing to knit this with less ease for a more fitted look please review the measurements on the last page and consider adding more length to the body and plan your yarn purchasing accordingly.*

MATERIALS

700 (800, 900, 1000, 1100) yards Aran weight yarn

The cardigan is worked at an open airy gauge. If substituting yarn look for Aran or chunky weight yarns to match gauge. Yardage amounts are approximate and selecting a different style of yarn may result in more or less yarn required.

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
