Jen's Chicago Trip

If you came into the shop last Wednesday-Friday...you know I was missing in action!! Here is a little peek into what I was up to!

I flew to Chicago to attend the H+H Americas show. H+H is a yarn industry-specific trade show that takes place in Colonge, Germany...however, this year they brought the show to America for the first time in conjunction with the craft alliance. It was a really great show with amazing classes and conversations...and the latest and greatest in the crafting world!

Alright...on with the photos!

This was me outside the convention center. I really didn't go outdoors all that much, so I had to capture it!

I placed a few orders at the show...new things to bring into the shop and I'll share them with you as they arrive (some will be awhile until they get here!)

New DK weight crochet cotton that is PERFECT for amigurumi!!!

Dying kits so you can try YOUR hand at dying yarn!!

I opened an account with Ashford, so you can now order any Ashford product (think spinning wheels, weaving looms, etc) through the shop!

I will be bringing in some cross stitch kits...how adorable are these?

And some cute embroidery kits!

When I wasn't on the show floor checking out all the amazing products, I was in a class learning about everything from Fall Trends, Social Media, and tackling the beast that is BACKSTOCK!!!

I'm SO very thankful I got to attend this show...and I got to stay in the most beautiful hotel, ventured out each evening...one evening we went on a hunt for Chicago style pizza and the other night I met up with my cousin that I haven't seen since I was 10!!!!!

Late Friday evening I hopped back on the plane, knit my little heart out while watching "Into the Woods" (and controlled my urge to singalong!!!)

And Washington welcomed me back with the most beautiful sunset (my camera just couldn't capture how lovely it was)

So, now it's back to the real world. Now I brace for the new inventory, clearance out some yarn to make way for the new, implement some things I learned and continue to grow this little yarn shop!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
