Things to do in Auburn

I have been noticing more and more of our Saturday shoppers are from out of town...and have been asking me for my restaurant recommendations while they are here. So, first of all, I wanted to do some research (ok...I wanted to eat out!!) and checked out the local places that are fantastic, are run by amazing families and make Auburn the perfect place to eat, drink & shop!

Honestly, when I decided to add this section to the website, it was really to share with you all my favorite places to eat! ;) We have really amazing food here, we hope you enjoy it!!

Geaux Brewing - http://geauxbrewing.com/ - Fantastic brewery with Louisiana Inspired food. We recommend a flight of beers...because we just can't pick one! They are just a couple blocks down the road at 425 E. Main Street

Gor Gai Thai - http://gorgaithai.com/ - Just another block past Geaux and across the street you will find the quaint Thai place that is kicking out some major authentic Thai Street food. 614 E. Main Street

Happy Express - https://www.yelp.com/biz/happy-express-auburn-2 - A new addition to Auburn, Happy Express is great for traditional chinese, teriyaki or sushi. I love their Salmon Poke Bowl! 530 W. Main Street (across the rail road tracks, you might want to drive!)

Oddfellas - http://www.oddfellas.net/ - I'll admit, I haven't eaten here yet (although I should, in the name of research of course!!) but it always smells so great when I take my daughter to dance lessons upstairs! Check them out at 102 W. Main Street

Rail Hop'n - https://railhopn.com/ - Right next to Oddfellas you will find the new kid on the block, Rail Hop'n. This one I have yet to check out...but it's on the list for sure!! They recently fixed up their location and it looks SO amazing!

Spunky Monkey - https://www.spunkymonkeybarandgrill.com/ - If you've heard of the monkey, you've probably heard about their fantastic chicken caesar salad, or maybe their karaoke? Whatever brings you in...you will enjoy your stay! And I totally agree...get the chicken caesar!!

Sunbreak Cafe - https://sunbreakcafe.com/ - Even before we moved to Auburn, we heard about Sunbreak! With its hefty breakfast portions (NO ONE WILL LEAVE HUNGRY) to the kids hot cocoa that is hard to find through the mountain of whip cream...everyone has a great time at Sunbreak! It's no surprise that you will sometimes find a line...but the cutest little shop is nestled inside, so it makes the wait easier and the promise of that yummy food makes it worth it too! 22 A Street

Sushido - https://www.facebook.com/auburnsushido/ - Another favorite for Sushi is Sushido...and I love their salmon teriyaki!

Vinifera - https://www.vinifera-auburn.com/ - Just a block away you will find Vinifera. They were voted Best New Business, Best Dinner and Best Happy Hour in Auburn...and we can see why! We recommend the crispy brussel sprouts and a glass of syrah! 18 Auburn Way South

Coffee

Gosanko - https://www.gosankochocolate.com/our-stores - Yummy treats are in store for you at Gosanko, including fantastic coffee (my favorite!!!) They are located at One W. Main Street

Zola's - http://www.zolascafe.com/ - Zola's is more than just coffee...but they are my favorite coffee so I thought I would put them in this category! :)

Gib's Coffee - https://www.facebook.com/GibsCoffeeco/ - If you are looking for a drive through coffee choice...Gib's is our go-to!

If you are a fabric lover, make sure you stop by Bigfoot Quilts before you leave town! https://www.bigfootquilts.com/

While walking around finding places to eat, drink and be merry...keep an eye out for the Auburn Hearts! They are hidden all over our city...you can find a map here: https://auburnexaminer.com/map-of-auburn-hearts/ I've found a few that aren't on the map!

Also, enjoy the 10 art sculptures that are changed out frequently http://www.auburnwa.gov/things_to_do/arts_entertainment/public_art/sculpture_gallery.htm

Of course you can find TONS more to see and do in Auburn at http://www.auburnwa.gov/things_to_do.htm

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
