New Yarn - Cassatt

Way back in June I attended a local yarn convention and fell head over heels in love with Cassatt.  Spun in Italy, Cassatt is a light and lofty blend of baby alpaca, wool, nylon, and viscose. It is constructed with a hollow core and fine fibers blown through for an ethereal halo. The colors are inspired by impressionist paintings. Beautiful speckles and tweedy nubs make this yarn all the more magical.  First, I knit up a little cowl to get a feel for the yarn. I found It's That Fast on Ravelry and knit a smaller version of her design. This yarn is so lofty and soft that I just knew I had to find a sweater pattern to use with this yarn! So on my to-do list this winter is the Turtle Dove II Not sure what color I'll use....all of them are speaking to me! :) Here are all the details about the yarn.... Lyrical Fibers Restock

This is part restock and part new inventory!!! The sock weight base was so popular that we already needed a restock!!! I also test-drove the Aran base last month and fell in love!  I knit a super squishy headband  (I removed some stitches from the original pattern and used a US10 knitting needle instead of the US4 they indicated...I would have knit CARDBOARD with that yarn and US4 needles!!) I just loved the way it knit up, so I added the Aran yarn to this order. It is a pretty hefty Aran weight, I would actually call it a chunky!) And how cute are the little employees over at Lyrical Fibers??? They even signed the packing slip!!! <3

Free Pattern Alert - Soft Vines Blankie

Hilde's Project Bags

Our team here at A Little Knitty is ridiculously talented!!! I mentioned in passing that I needed to find someone to make project bags with drawstrings and Hilde said "I can do it" and boy did she deliver!!! We now have Hilde's creations here in the shop and available online !

Hilde's Corner - Embossed Crochet

So...I am not much of a crocheter, though I have done it in my time. I am more of a knitter. BUT - I do have a WIP on my needles....er....hook, that I would love to get back to. (Remember those projects I mentioned last week that I am working on but not necessarily currently?) Have you heard of embossed crochet? I saw Spica Embossed bag by Natalia Kononova when it came out and fell in love! I had to find out how it was done. I think it's beautiful.  Since then she has come out with a very similar pattern called Embossed Meadow , that incorporates more colors so the embossed portions are a different color than the background (I have no clue how that's done - so that's another project added to my very long list. Spica Embossed Bag calls for a DK weight cotton/linen/flax blend but anything with those types of fibers would work. At A Little Knitty we have Flax by Fibra Natura , Juniper Moon Farm Zooey and I've seen it done up in Bamboo Pop ! So, if you see me in the shop,...

Head first down the weaving black hole

I need a new hobby like I need a hole in my head, but my arm has been bothering me (this tendonitis won't let up!!!) so I swept the dust off the weaving loom I bought in April 2020 and begged Teresa to show me her ways.  Putting the loom together wasn't too hard, and the set-up was much better with Teresa holding my hand. I decided to make a scarf first, but my real goal in life is to make dish towels....TONS AND TONS OF DISH TOWELS!!!!!   I wouldn't say that I've found my new passion in life, but I don't usually embrace a new hobby well. I want to be instantly proficient and not struggle (I know y'all understand!). But that's just not how life works!  If you are curious about weaving, stop into the shop and try my loom. We have access to order in any loom Ashford makes. And their shipping is INSANELY FAST!!!! We do have this new book in the shop if you are looking for a great weaving reference guide!! You can find the book in-store or online HERE

Hilde's Corner

Hello, Everyone!  Jen asked me to write a little bit about patterns I dream of doing or are currently working on. I immediately thought of my current project that I am loving working on! (ok, let's get real - I have lots of things on the needles but I'm talking about the one I am currently ACTUALLY working on!)  I am working on an open-front cardigan called Abria . The construction is a bit different but it makes it so fun! There is the tiniest bit of lace on the front, which I also love. I am using Rico Light & Long Tweed that Jen has in the store - made of cotton and acrylic and it's so SOFT!!! I couldn't wait to knit a comfy sweater in it. I also love the subtle striping, though the color I chose does not really do this (but I still love it!) I think that's why I am loving this project so much - the combo of a fun pattern and yarn you love can't be beat! The sweater is working up so nice and soft - it's just what I was dreaming of. Once this sweater ...

Stitch n Pitch is back, baby!!!

We are so thrilled to hear that Stitch n Pitch with the Mariners is BACK!!!!  Tuesday, September 6th 6:40pm Before covid, we went every year, and this year we really stocked up on tickets! Grab your tickets and the first 6 people who ask for a ride can join me in my vehicle....or meet us at the park!! Remember to look at the guidelines for what is allowed in the park. Personally, I'm going to bring a see-thru bag for my knitting and a small wallet with my moolah (don't forget ...there are vendors at the park!)  If we sell out of tickets fast, I'll buy more!!!  They did offer lower seats, but I chose the more budget friendly upper seats.  You will receive a reusable bag from the park, but you will also get some treats from A Little Knitty with your purchase! Get your tickets HERE or in store
