Introducing Jadawoo Designs

A little backstory before I talk about our newest yarn to hit the shelves....

Last month I participated in a test knit for local designer, Jaime Lomax (aka PNW Knit Design) and all of the testers were included in a group chat.

It was fun to watch the color combinations and get to know some of the other testers. Around the same time, a customer stopped into the shop and BOTH of us had NO CLUE we were in the same group chat. It wasn't until after she left, that I put two and two together while scrolling through Instagram!!! Of course then I had to stalk her insta (as one does) and discovered she dyes GORGEOUS yarn AND is a local gal!!!!!!

I fell in love with her PNW inspired colorways, as well as this dandelion-inspired yarn. I'm going through a big gold/rust phase right now and this one spoke to my heart!!

I was curious about her business name and inquired about the inspiration behind "Jadawoo Designs".

"Ah! That is my alter ego! Sometimes fear prevents us from trying new things or going after our dreams. I got the nickname Jada in highschool from a friend because I had the courage to voice my opinion in the same way his favorite artist did. I first used Jadawoo when I was training for a half marathon, to remind myself I had the courage to push through even when things were tough. I was super nervous to start selling the yarn I dye. When I sat down to name the business, Jadawoo was it. I named it that to remind myself to have the courage to try this and not to let fear hold me back"

I don't know about you, but I feel this sentiment SO MUCH!!! Fear can really hold us back and I'm so thankful Jess took the leap of faith to sell her beautiful yarn and I'm pleased as punch that we get to stock her yarn!!

Not only does Jadawoo Designs have lovely pre-established colorways....Jess was kind enough to dye up a brand new colorway for A Little Knitty and she named it 'A Beautiful Place' (pictured above).

You can find her yarn in-store or online HERE

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
