Return to the blog

I cannot believe it has been SO long since I blogged!!! When the shop was shut down because the state feels we are "Non-Essential" (I disagree, yarn is life), I had these high hopes of restarting my blog, restarting my YouTube, sending out weekly newsletters, staying in touch via Zoom and getting all my inventory into my online store.

Well, 2.5 out of 5 isn't SO bad!!!

I honestly think the YouTube thing is just never going to happen....because my lack of wearing anything other than a t-shirt and yoga pants and my refusal of doing hair and make-up. I have given thought to a podcast...but then you lose all the awesome-ness of SEEING the yarn. *sigh* It's just not going to happen right now! ;)

But what IS happening....

NEWSLETTERS

My newsletters have been going out EVERY Monday since March 16th. Sometimes they are a little late in the day...but they have been EVERY Monday and the person that is most shocked by this is ME!!!! Maybe I've created a little habit here! :)

You can check out our latest newsletter here: https://mailchi.mp/4d5540696555/april-27th-a-little-knitty-newsletter

If you would like to sign up to receive a weekly newsletter, go to our website and scroll all the way to the bottom to find the link to sign up! www.alittleknitty.com

ONLINE SHOPPING WITH CURBSIDE PICKUP (starting mid-May) OR SHIPPING

We are constantly adding new inventory to our online store and hoping to curate a fun selection of kits to help you fill your days of chilling out at home!! Some of the kits aren't available in-store as they ship directly from our suppliers. This has been a really cool program that allows us to introduce yarns we haven't carried before! The fact that our suppliers are doing this for us is amazing, and shows how much they care! Every purchase helps our little shop stay afloat!

I'm also trying to come up with fun kit ideas designed by yours truly! Those tend to be released on Mondays!

All knitting needles and crochet hooks are now available in our online store. I'm working on all the yarn...but it's a little easier to add kits than single yarns. If there is a yarn that you know we carry that you need, just email us at info@alittleknitty.com and we will put together an online invoice for you and you can do curbside pickup (available Mid-May) or shipping!

VIRTUAL CLASSES, DEMONSTRATIONS & HELP SESSIONS THROUGH OUR PATREON PAGE

I do NOT want learning and creativity to slow down just because we are closed to the public. I wanted to provide an online source to help with those dropped stitches and pattern translations! The easiest way for me to do this was to start a Patreon Page. Patreon is a monthly subscription site that allows people to support those in the creative arts. On this page, I post tutorials, free patterns, virtual classes, help sessions (through Zoom), and this month I'm introducing a tier system that thanks those who are supporting the shop! In the first month (March) I was able to use all of the funds pledged to pay the electricity bill!!! This month I will be putting it towards May Rent! I do NOT want this to be a handout and I'm trying to make sure I publish enough content to make it worth your money...but you can cancel at ANY time and I'll post at the end of each month to remind you to cancel if you need to (I completely understand we are all pulling in the purse strings right now!!!!)

Pledge $10 per month and get a $5 coupon code each month
Pledge $20 per month and get a $10 coupon code each month
Pledge $50 per month and get a $10 coupon code each month PLUS a bonus (this month it's a passport for the Slow Yarn Crawl that is going VIRTUAL this year!!!!)

If you would like to check out our Patreon page, you can do that here: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=32348811&fan_landing=true

VIRTUAL SIT-N-STITCH

We have virtual sit-n-stitch every Wednesday at Noon and Saturday at 7pm! If you would like the link, please email us at hello@alittleknitty.com and make the subject ZOOM

SOCIAL MEDIA

Be sure to follow us on Social Media at www.facebook.com/alittleknitty or Instagram @alittleknitty and we have a very bustling PRIVATE knitting group on Facebook. If you would like to join, just go here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/996616350464774 we screen everyone who asks to join...so that the only weirdos in there are those who love yarn!!!

If there is ANYTHING I can help you with while we are all quarantine'd please let me know! Even when things open back up, we will not have classes right away (6 feet apart is kinda hard when we do in person classes), masks will be required, hand sanitizer will be near the door and we will limit the number of people in the shop. This isn't forever, but it is becoming clear to me that I need to prepare for a new kind of "open" once we are able to do so.

Thank you for your love and support through all of this! We will survive this together!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap
