Kris' Corner - Valentine Memories

Valentine Memories

I don’t know about you but my favorite holiday in elementary school, besides Christmas of course, was Valentine’s Day.  I loved decorating my shoebox to receive valentines, I loved picking out valentines for my classmates and I loved all the sugary goodness of cupcakes and candy at the actual school party. Since Valentine’s Day is only a month away I thought I would check out some fun patterns to celebrate St. Valentine.

“Valentine Hat” by Kirsten-Michele is a sweet knit hat covered in hearts and geometric motifs.  It is a fun slouchy beanie with an optional pom pom on the top. It is $6 on Ravelry. Ciao or Uptown DK would be a nice choice for yarn.

How can you not smile looking at these funny creatures hugging hearts!?  “Valentine Love Hugs” is a crochet pattern by Crochet at Teri’s.  I love their expressions as they cling to their hearts.  This would be a great little present, especially for the teacher to put on her desk! Ricorumi would be a good yarn for this project. The pattern is approximately $2.81 on Ravelry.

I love this snuggly “Valentine Cowl” by The Blue Moose.  Just two colors, pink and red, but the hearts look so cute scattered across the rows.  Uptown Worsted would be a great choice for this one.  The pattern is FREE on Ravelry.

Last, a fun crochet keychain that reminds me of the popular Emotional Support Chicken in mini form.  “Valentine Chicken Keychain” is by Tanya Tappleta and is $2 on Ravelry.  I love the small heart on the chick”s body as well as the sweet expression on its face.  What is it about putting eyes on a knit or crocheted creature that brings out their personality!?  This also would make a nice valentine gift for someone you appreciate or love.  Ricorumi would be a perfect yarn for this one.

Hope you find a way to let someone know they have a place in your heart this Valentines Day!!

Karen Chemo Cap 5th Anniversary Makeover

I had someone ask me about the Karen Chemo Cap Fan Stitch and I decided the video and pattern were both in need of a make-over! Especially when I noticed this year is the 5th anniversary of publishing this pattern. When my mom had chemo I made her a few different hats because honestly it felt like the only thing I could do. I designed this one just for her, and was super excited when it was her favorite! After she passed I wasn't sure I wanted to release the design, but with a little time...it felt like the right thing to do! You can download the pattern for free here (please give it a favorite over on Ravelry so that it gets a little Ravelry love!!!):  Ravelry: Karen Chemo Cap pattern by A Little Knitty Designs You can purchase the yarn we used here:  Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm (alittleknitty.com) Here is the video if you need help with the fan stitch!

Chemo Caps - Part 2

The Gia Chemo Cap doesn't have the same sort of story behind it as the Karen Cap , but it was developed with Chemo patients in mind! Please share this pattern with anyone who would like to knit a hat for someone in need! You can download your pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gia-chemo-cap

This eliminates the purl stitches looking a little funky (if you know, you know).  We decreased by 25% of the stitches about halfway through the cowl to allow the top of the cowl to be a little closer to the neck and the bottom spread over your shoulders if you want to wear it that way! We gave you little check boxes to check off as you complete repeats. **PATTERN** Using Main Color, CO92, place stitch marker and join in the round Round 1: (K2, P2) Repeat parentheses all the way around Repeat Round 1 six more times       ⃞          ⃞...
