New Inventory Alert - Noro Tensan

I have been on a vest kick lately. I just think they look so cute over the dresses I love to wear and I LOOOOVE never having to make sleeves! ;) This pattern is called VestFlex a nd it is a $4.50 pattern on Ravelry. This pattern is sooo many pages (like 36 or something like that) but the author mentions it is intended to be a digital pattern. I now use Knit Companion for all my patterns so that worked perfectly for me! The pattern is written specifically for beginners and was so well written with some striping possibilities. I just used Noro and made it do all the work! I used 2 balls of the yarn for this vest. So, let's talk about this yarn!!! It is a newer yarn to the Noro family and BRAND SPANKIN' NEW to the shop!!! There are a few patterns that have been knit with this yarn over on Ravelry .  I love looking at yarns on Ravelry then seeing what other people have made with it!! The silk content of this yarn makes for the most amazing drape and super light weight to wear. Her...

Kris' Corner - Stockings

Christmas is just around the corner and I've been thinking a lot about stockings.   Every year I make a different one for my collection.  My husband is convinced our whole house will be consumed with Christmas stockings one day but I'm ok with that because I love making them. Just like opening doors on an Advent calendar I enjoy the days leading up to Christmas as I work row after row.  You could say it's like kids anticipating opening up their Christmas stockings on Christmas morning......well maybe not to that level of excitement but pretty close. There are many wonderful knit and crochet patterns out there but here are a few that really got my attention: Since we technically are still in Fall, I will start with "Falloween Stocking" by bunnymuff-Mona Zilah .  This stocking looks like a page out of a beautifully illustrated book or an intricately stitched tapestry you would see hung on a castle wall.  Some of the variations of the stocking reveal dupl...

Crafting for Charities

We recently had a few inquiries about charities we knit/crochet for and I wanted to list them here! We collect YEAR ROUND for all of these charities, but only deliver every quarter or so and the hats/scarves only in the cooler weather months! Knit the Rainbow - https://www.knittherainbow.org/ - Hats, Scarves, anything to keep people warm. This charity distributes the hand knit/crochet items to LGBTQ youth in NYC but they are working to expand and we are hoping to be part of the push to expand to Seattle. We collect items year round and mail to NYC as needed. We also collect hats year round for our local food banks!  Knitted Knockers -  https://www.knittedknockers.org/ - We collect year round and bring to the local oncology unit as needed! In the past we have teamed up with local schools, but currently we aren't paired with one. However, we collect child sized hats and handmade items and take them to our local food bank.

Hilde's Corner

With the cooler temperatures and some rainy days, my mind has turned to sweaters! I am so happy it’s cool enough to be wearing them again! My mind is all about knitting them, too, and I can’t seem to stop looking at patterns. My sweater pattern list has grown and I have to remind myself that sweaters take time to knit and I can’t knit them all this season! I should be thinking of holiday knits to give, but I can’t stop thinking about sweaters. I love sweaters and I love sweater season. Stranded colorwork sweaters seem to be my current obsession and I have seen some gorgeous patterns. My favorite pattern at the moment, and one I am determined to knit, is Ghali Sweater by Zanete Knits . It sells for about $9.50 on Ravelry and uses a sport weight yarn. I love the all-over colorwork on this beautiful pullover! I plan to use Queensland’s Patagonia Organic Merino to knit this. This yarn has quite a few lovely colors to choose from and I think will work great for colorwork. Cathedral by Ra...

Project Bag Give Back

We have teamed up with local project bag maker, Jo, to offer this awesome way of giving back!! Now through the end of November, we will place project bags on our front table (and gridwall) if you purchase a bag...we will donate $10 to a local food bank (we are planning on Federal Way Food Bank because we feel they are in the most need, but if we have enough we will divide among other food banks too!) We know by giving money, we increase the amount of food they will be able to give because of their purchasing power!! Together, we can make a difference in our community!
