Bring us your leftovers....

Leftover yarn that is!!! We have a local crafting group of young kids that is in need of yarn. They are just playing with yarn and making small things like cat toys or wrapping yarn around sticks....we aren't talking blanket or sweaters quantities, or your entire attic stash...we are just talking those balls of yarn that you have left over when you are done with a project.  If you would like to drop off your donation, we will have a collection box by the front door...please bring your donations in a ziplock bag and we will add it to the collection!!!

Three Season Pullover by Wool & Pine Design

If you have been anywhere near me in the last week or so, you know that I cannot STOP talking about my new sweater!!! I love wearing it soooooo much...and I'm proud of myself for actually finishing it (I was on sleeve island for far too long). I promised during the last podcast that I would wear it in whatever form it was in when we filmed...and I really didn't want to be sleeveless!!!! This pattern is called the Three Season Pullover (there is a cardigan too!!!) by Wool and Pine Designs. I knit it in the recommended yarn of Cantata by Cascade Yarn. I used 7 skeins for my sweater...and this yarn is only $10 per skein!!!! You can find this yarn in-store or online . The pattern can be purchased directly from Ravelry , or we can purchase it for you in-store!! This is my project page on Ravelry just for fun! https://www.ravelry.com/projects/alittleknittyjen/three-season-pullover

Hilde's Corner

One of my many Works In Progress include reorganizing my yarn stash and all the tools of my craft. It’s a slow process, as you can well imagine. Sadly I need to reorganize other areas before I can get to my craft supplies, but I am trying very hard! Naturally, during this reorganization process, I have all kinds of insanely gorgeous ideas in my head of what the finished area will look like and it occurred to me how cute it would be if I could throw in a few plants scattered here and there. But the reality is no plant could grow in my storage area because it’s too far from any windows. But wait!!! I could knit or crochet some super cute plants!! How perfect would that be for a knit/crochet area? So I had to look up what sort of patterns I could find and there are so many cute things out there!! Most of these patterns are crocheted and made with Worsted or DK weight yarn, but you could use a different weight yarn - it would just turn out a different size, if there was a yarn that you rea...

Hildes corner - What the Swatch?!?

What the Swatch?!? How many of you think of “swatch” as a four letter word? I know many of us hate to swatch, and often ignore this step. I know I have! Sometimes I don’t even want to hear the word!  But I have good news!! You don’t have to swatch!! If you love knitting as much as I do, you don’t need to swatch - and bonus!! The knitted object will most likely not be the size you need it to be so you’ll get to  knit it again !! Yay!😕  I recently started a sweater with a hood, and did not make a swatch. I had used this yarn before, and felt I had enough information. The hood turned out too skinny (it barely covered my ears) and way too long (it hung way too far down my back). It took me a month to knit it, but lucky me, I got to knit it again. A second month later, and I finally have the hood I needed it to be.  However, I think next time I might just knit a swatch. It would save me a lot of time. I think we need to look upon swatches as positive objects. They contai...
